Welcome to our latest and all December Supernovas!

You are now an Honor Graduate [IMG] from your pre-op days! You've entered the recovery phase of your replacement journey to that place called “Normal”, and you are now eligible to be a [IMG] Recovery Club member.

Pre-op surgery team members are automatically recovery team members. If you were not on the pre-op list, please join your fellow travelers in this month’s post-op club by requesting your name and surgery date be added to the roster.

Being a team member will allow you to share your [IMG] questions, concerns, and experiences; give one another [IMG] support and encouragement; [IMG] vent, whine, and [IMG] shed some tears, if necessary; and have some [IMG] fun and laughs together. (Please do the above in one another’s recovery threads. And if you find your fun and laughs taking over an individual thread, toss them over to the Social Room to keep your recovery thread on target.)

Recovery is a long journey [IMG] made shorter and easier when made with [IMG] fellow travelers. So, start you membership in this special club today by requesting that your name and surgery date be added to the list!

Today marks the beginning of my 4th week of recovery. I was comforted by my PT when he told me I was exactly where I needed to be and that I was going through an average recovery. He told me to stop comparing this surgery to my prior TKR because that one was exceptional and doesn’t happen each time. Also, I’m finally starting to feel comfortable weaning myself off the walker and advancing to a cane. Life is good!

@Bashia..Thanks!!! Yes, this is somewhat difficult. I just want the healing process to be over. It looks like you are done with this, having two TKRs last year. I also had my right knee done in 2014 so never again when I have to go through this, God willing.

I was reading today about how PT will rub your scar in a perpendicular fashion to break up the scar tissue beneath the surface of the wound. This sounds like it would hurt. Should I allow PT to do that to me? Will the layers of skin naturally separate from each other without doing this? Is this something I should attempt to do myself? They also said doing this would improve the healed look of the scar. What’s the scoop on this?

5th week of recovery from TKR ...I haven’t seen or felt any improvement during the past week...weaned myself from walker to cane, but I’m finding that I still need to occasionally depend on the walker...my recent discovery is that it seems like my new surgical leg is shorter than my other leg...any thoughts on this?
