No Thank you:shk::shk::shk::shk:

Not into gore and that would be. I have to feel the result of the surgery, I don't want to see it. e:shk:w

Hope you are feeling well Cindy

I just wanted to know enough to understand what I'd be going through--that's all, thanks! Bring on the drugs-LOL

I'm with Irene! I'll watch it AFTER it's all said and done..... Maybe.

I'd love the link. I wouldn't watch one before surgery, but now maybe it would help understand why there's all the pain. Daughter said to expect pain for a while after someone has had his hands inside your knee. I have pictures taken during my surgery, amazing. Do all docs give you those?

Pat

I did to but i wish i didnt .....lol.but it was neat to see after words what they did not before....lol...)

I've seen ...... ummmmm ........ around a thousand! And in real life, none of ya sissy videos!

Pretty sure that I don't want to see the surgery....I was browsing thru the scar thread and was totally shocked :shk::shk: when I saw a picture of the open gapping incision with the replacement joint in place before being the incision was stapled...I am too chicken to watch the whole surgery...at least until after my PKR is over after Sept. 21st.
Sissy

I don't blame you ag all, Sissy! Some things areleft better tgo the imagination! Or maybe not!!! (:)0)

Did you really, Calling? All that sawing and grinding! If I wasn't unconscious, those sounds would definitely have made me pass out!!! (:)0)

I did my best to watch it but YES Judi I closed my eye's and just listened.
I am bad right!?

Hi Sissy--I'm not sure I've seen you post before this one. Welcome to Bonesmart--this is a wonderful site for information and support. Ask anything at all-the wonderful folks here will be there for you.

So I see your PKR will be 9/21---coming up for you. You'll do fine--try reading lots of the older posts---you'll REALLY get the scoop here!

My LTKR went great and I am beginning a wonderful recovery---no more pain or limping---I look forward to an active future!

Regards to you---love your picture. Nancy

If I watched the video before my surgery my husband would have to drag me to the hospital. When my surgery is over I would love to watch the video... I'll get back to you in 3 weeks. :)

They don't call me Sissy for nothing....I can't even watch when I have to have labs drawn:shk:...You should have seen me :rant:when my OS was giving me Orthovisc injections..If I could have run, I would have..he had me at a disadvantage..I can only limp along, he would have caught me in the hall and finished the injection!
Nancy I just found this forum yesterday..it's great..Sissy

I watched it in full before I had my BTKR last year. I am into all the science and parts of the body and wanted to know exactly what was going to happen to me. I understood TKR is basically carpentry work done on your body! Most of the tools are similar and sanitized. When you realize you are getting 5 bone cuts on the end of your femur, and the top of the tibia is cut off to hammer in the post of the platform the spacer rests on, you realize why you are hurting! Not only is it the incision in the skin & muscle, but also the bones! Plus the knee cap is shaved to adhere the plate to hold the button that rolls it up and down on the metal replacement parts. Frankly, I loved knowing what was going to happen to me. Then I knew what to expect and could advocate for myself.
We all are different in how much we want to know and see.

OK. Crystal, I could have gone without hearing all the gory details. I wish I could be a little less squeamish and more clinical. It really does bring it all into perspective when you know what is happening though. I have a few relatives that are acting as though I will or should be up and dancing within a few days. I think I will copy your post and let them read it..maybe they are the ones that should watch the surgery! My hubby and daughters are not who I am talking about...they are very supportive and helpful. Sissy

hi Sissy--also Crystal--

I am usually a medical groupie when it comes to operations or anything medical on TV, video, or live---HOWEVER--I just now watched a video showing the entire total knee operation. I found it helpful--almost 3 weeks after my TKR--to relate to some of the swelling, bruising and pain that I had---like Crystal said watching the video helped me really understand the process. I was a TOTAL chicken before my surgery and would not watch it! Now I'm glad I watched it---told my OS yesterday at my 2 week post surgery appt that I watched the operation on a video--he laughed and said--REALLY?--most people would not want to watch!! Nancy
