YO! Gang,

I know that Marianne and a few more have warm knees but how long will this last? It has been 6 weeks since my LTKR and almost 8 weeks since my RTKR and my knees are constantly warm. It doesn't matter if I have walked a mile or just woke in the morning they are warm. I swear that they are so warm or should I say HOT at times that I could fry an egg on them. Please let me know how long you have had warm knees.

God Bless,
Rick

Are you icing it lots, Rick? Lots and lots. That's the best prescription.

Josephine i still have warm knees now and again no swelling or pain had my tkr in May 08 is this normal

Regards Pam

Yep - that's perfectly true, Pam - but in the early days, it does help, comfort-wise, to ice often.

My knee sometimes gets warm while the rest of the leg is cool. I asked my OS this question last week at my 16 week checkup. He said that was normal and could be that way up to 6 months. He said not to worry about it.

YO! Gang,

Thanks Linda, Jo and Dale. I guess this is just something else that I have to put my time in.

God Bless,
Rick

I asked my OS yesterday about my knee still being warm all the time. My PT was concerned as well. The OS says nothing to worry about that it could last 6 mos to a year. Just to ice it a lot and it will get better, he says it all a part of the healing process and it has decreased a little each week.

Same here. I'm now 10 weeks and still have a warm knee...I have been assured by doc that it's a sign that healing is still taking place....reasurrance enough for me.
love and hugs Pat xx

A bunch of us that had the TKR's back in Dec, Jan had a lengthy discussion about our "hot knees". Mine was really hot for four or five months then it just went away.
The same with the numbness on the outside of my knee. It started tingling and felt like something was crawling on it for a few weeks then at 6 months, the feeling was mostly back. I only have a little surface slight numbing now.
Bottom line is, you have to be patient.

Thanks Gang,

You guys are the greatness, this puts my mind to rest. Like I said before I just have to put my time in.

God Bless,
Rick

RickB, I am 6 weeks out and my knee still always feels warm to the touch--warmer than other parts of my body. I'm not a nurse like Nursepair (Sue) but icing it couldn't hurt. I would be on the lookout for any suspicious changes, however, like extreme redness, or anything oozing. (Sue, correct me if I'm off track.) God bless, LindaZ

I am about 18 weeks out from my surgery. My knee is still slightly warm, but it has been this same temperature since about the 3-4th week out. The swelling took until about 4 weeks ago to go completely away.

Hey Rick,

I had the hot knee thing for about 3 months, especially after PT or a good workout. It drove me crazy....it goes away eventually.

Hang in there :)

Imagine if we could convert all this heat into energy! Man... do you think we could become energy independent?????

Still warm - especially when swollen!
Marianne (not such a bad thing anymore - especially when the day time temps are only in the 20's here!)
