Front wheeled walker (FWW) easier to use, and promotes a smoother gait. If you have balance problems or difficulty with controlling the the FWW, then a pick up walker would be better. PT will be a able to help you with this.
Good luck with your surgery. It is easy to convert a FWW to/from a pick up walker, just switch out the front legs.
