Hi Folks,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday greetings to all.

Quick question now to be followed by a longer report of my experience so far.

I had some urinary retention issues post op and had to be cath a total of three times. This may or may not be related to my present symptoms.

I started to feel increased pressureto urinate last night. I think I have a slightly restricted flow. but I'm able to go each time. I was put on CIPPRO 500 MG 2x/pday for 7 days.

Other then take the meds check my temp, ( normal ) is there anything else you would recommend that I do.

I'm a little freaked out because I don't want this infection (if I have one) to compromise my surgery.

Thanks for your feedback and again Marry Christmas and happy Holidays

Cipro is an antibiotic and should keep a UTI at bay. As long as your temp stays normal all should be ok.
The best thing you can do is also kind of inconvenient only two weeks out from your BTKR--- and that is to drink a lot of water. Increasing your fluid intake helps keep your bladder flushed out but will also make you have to get up and go to the bathroom more frequently. Many people believe cranberry juice has a natural defense against UTIs as well.

Merry Christmas and take good care!

Thanks Beach. I think the symptoms are abating and I'm able to really breath again. My recovery from the surgery is moving along very smoothly, it was all the medical consequences and complications that have been the most problematic. So hopefully the further I move from that the more this can become about my new knees and there adjustment to their new home.

Merry Christmas,

Bennet
