Hi Guys, I was wondering If anyone else has experienced this???

I'm about 7 wks. Post PLKR and I am stumped at why I'm having pain
at the top medial side of my Tibia????:sct:
The problem is not with the joint Itself, and It seems to be getting
worse. I WAS off my crutches about 4 weeks ago, but now I'm back
on them:hissy: I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary, or jumping
out windows, just PT and household chores. My Question is,..
Could It be possible there is a fracture at the site of the Tibial
component where the hole was drilled??? The pain seems to be
concentrated right there. Just below the prosthetic plateau. I've
gotten to the piont where I have to call my OS. It's been a week
and It has only gotten worse VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! Any Guesses
Folks???????

Tom, first hey, welcome back! I missed you around here. No one stays up lete here anymore!
Back to the leg, when did you see your OS last, did he Xray the knee? If he did, he wolud hsve seen a fracture. Maybe it's time to see him again if it's so bad that you had to go back to crutches. I'm at about 2 1/2 weeks post RTKR and I am mostly off the cane, just use it when I go outside the house.
Feel better.

Hi Terri Thanx Girl, misssed you too! I had to pay on my wireless a little late.
Money is gettin tight.
I saw him (OS) two wks. ago and no X-rays were taken, I just called and they will
sqeeze me In today at 2:30 so HOPEFULLY! I will get some answers! Thanks,

Hey Tom sorry your in pain...........I would call him and let him know dont take any chances..and if its getting worse........get it fixed now rather then later........I hope you feel better.........

Could the pain be tendonitis? I had pain just under the knee on the medial side. The doc said it was either tendonitis or a stress fracture, although the plain x-ray didn't show anything. He said he'd do other tests if we suspect stress fracture. He had me use an anti-inflammatory patch (Flector patch) for a month and stop all exercises except easy bike and bending knee gently to my chest. I wasn't much better at the end of the month, and then he told me to get back to exercising. It's gotten better over the last couple months.

Glad you're going in to see the OS.

Tom, I had (actually still do have now and then) pain where you are describing. When I asked my doctor about it, he explained it was the result of soft tissue swelling in the knee joint. The problem is the knee area is so confined, that the swelling can move to other parts of the leg like down (gravity) to the area beside tibia. You might not even see any swelling and still get this pain. I did.

Ice, elevate, and anti-inflammants or pain meds will help. You are very early in recovery and all types of swelling are possible at this point.

Thanks SO much Girls, Yeah the funny thing Is there Is Absolutely no swelling,
and I can actually, More or less Pinpoint where It hurts. It is a sharp burning
pain when I try to stand on It, and It Aches with No Pressure....??
Thanks for your suggestions. (It feels like It's Inside the Bone, Weird)
Oh Ok Jamie I understand now, I just envisioned a fracture because of the TYPE of
pain I have. (i've had It Before)

Tom....you missed my point....there can be swelling inside but you won't see it just looking at your leg. There is not much of an area inside your leg for the fluid (swelling) to go and it can move to areas away from the joint itself.

But if it worries you, either call or have it checked out. But if it was me, I would try the icing, elevation and anti-inflammants for a day or so first.

Tom,
I am glad that you are going to see your OS today.
Since he did not take any Xrays after your fall on the stairs it is not a bad idea to have it check out.
Now that you say the swelling have gone down maybe he will do a Xray. Please post as soon as you can after you see him.

Thank you Calling I will, I'm sorry Jamie I follow You Now. I've been Icing and elevating
nearly constantly for 5 days and I'm not usually a wuss, and your right Jamie, I
totally see your piont about the soft Tissue swelling, (I also have a lot of fluid)
I bet he drains It off today!!

Hi Tom, I missed you! I am sorry for your pain, I hope the doc can find out for you, and I pray it is not a fracture.

Take care and let us know after what is going on!

So sorry you're experiencing more pain, Tom! Please let us know what your OS says and of course.......FEEL BETTER!!!!!! :sct::hissy::evil::wink:

Whew!!!..It's only Anserine Bursitis, He said to continue Icing and elevating.
and I will modify my PT for a week or two, and If It needs to be drained in
two weeks to come back. So all Is fine, Thank you all for your Imput and wishes!

Wow, great job, I am glad you figured it out, but sorry you have any issues at all. Out of curiosity, is this a complication of the surgery?

I am really glad that you are back online with us. Sorry about your tight funds. Now that Terri is hopped up on her Percocets, we need to get her creative juices flowing and create an entire product line for your bubble pants. You need some merchandise to sell!!

Take care of your knee, Kimberly
