Hi. I’m having bilateral TKR on October 16th. I started major “pre hab” two months ago.
I have been focused on
Upper body strength
Quad strength-so painful
Sleep
No alcohol=reduce inflammation
Water intake
Supplements
Journaling daily about what I’m going to be able to do in April my “why” to keep me going!
What are y’all doing to prepare for your new life ahead?

@UniDi Hi and Welcome!

I moved your post here to a pre op thread so you can ask questions and discuss any part of your pre op journey.

Best Wishes!

Here’s some pre op information for you:

If you are at the stage where you have joint pain but don't know for sure if you are ready to have surgery, these links may help:
Score Chart: How bad is my arthritic knee?

BMI Calculator - What to do if your surgeon says you're too heavy for joint replacement surgery
Longevity of implants and revisions: How long will my new joint last?

If you are at the stage where you are planning to have surgery but are looking for information so you can be better prepared for what is to come, take a look at these links:

@UniDi you are definitely on the right path to getting your body ready for a bilateral :wow: . Brave, brave, brave. The only other preparation I'd suggest is getting your head around recovery. Just understanding that it could/will be way different than you think, might prepare you to be more patient with the healing process and give yourself a whole bunch of grace. Good luck!
