Has anyone else with a TKR ever done this? My TKR was December of '07 and my manipulation was June of '08. BTW, everything has been wonderful with my knee. Sometimes I can't even tell it was replaced. My ROM was probably at least 135.

I was working, minding my own business when I was run into with a cart and my knee was hyperextended. LOTS OF PAIN! I had x-rays, the appliance seems to be fine.(thank goodness!) The only way to tell what kind of damage was done to the ligaments is an MRI, but with the TKR, it would have an inaccurate reading. My knee is stiff and I can't straighten it without a lot of pain. This happened Monday, I've been to 2 PT appointments. And I'm off work for at last 1 week until I see the OS again next Monday. It's funny how you forget this pain until something like this helps you remember having the TKR pain.

I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what their recovery time was???

Laurie, so sorry to hear of your accident! Ouch!!! It sounds like you have some significant soft tissue damage which will get better with time. I don't recall anyone posting in the past year or so about something like this, but there could be someone out there who can respond. In the meantime, hopefully you will see a quick recovery and a lessening of the pain soon.

It will be fine, Laurie, don't fret. You'll have over-stretched your hamstrings probably and some other ligaments. They will heal in time. You just need to rest, ice and elevate (remember all that?) and take some anti-inflammatories.
