Getting anxious and trying to stay as busy as I can. Cleaned house, with sweet hubby’s help, packed overnight bag, hair cut tomorrow, and on Wednesday pre-op, then video. So Thursday is my day. I just want my life back to normal.

Fantastic. Soon you will be able to focus on positive things like rehab and a better life.
When Thursday comes it will feel better and be too busy for freaking out. You will find staff very professional and that will help. Just keep as occupied as you can meantime. Maybe plan something for post op? Xxx

and expect a good experience from your TKR.. Mine was! They got the pain meds ironed out before I went home and really it was not a horrid experience.. It did take three months before I tried the gym but thats not too long!

Had my rtkr on June 6 so on the road to recovery
This is my second, had the left done three years ago.
I was nervous but once you get going it's not that bad. Good to have a stable knee under you.
    Positive thoughts

Thank you for all the encouragement. I know it is a long road to where I want to be, but I plan to follow the advise from the tried and true folks on here. Especially the rest, elevate, ice, and meds. My PT will be at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Ga., since my ortho does not advise home or rehab stays. All I can say about that is “we’ll see,” keeping in mind what has been said about overdoing the therapy and knowing when to tell them enough. However, I am an over achiever (lol) and sometimes this presents a problem for me! With folks on here, my family and my God, I will be fine. Just love ya’ll.

Welcome, @elliott52 ! You seem to have a great outlook and positive attitude, which will be very helpful when on the recovery roller coaster. This is a great time to be an overachiever; that is if you put your overachieving into lots of icing and elevating, along with not over-doing things as you recover (hopefully you get my meaning here). But, if you put that tendency into over-doing daily activities and also doing excessive PT, it won't be a good thing. When you post on the other side after your surgery, you'll get a list of articles to read-I encourage you to read them. They can be a great help during your recovery-my favorite one was the activity progression article. It helped me to keep steadily adding to my activities, while not overdoing at any point, and making sure I didn't become a couch potato either. Good luck, and I wish you all the best on Thursday! See you on the other side!

Small world! We used to live near the Hughston Clinic in Columbus way back in the early 90's! They are definitely highly regarded for anything orthopedic! I'm less than two weeks behind you and will have my right knee replaced on July 2nd. Keep your chin up, you'll do great!!

I’ve used Hughston forever. I’ve haven’t gone wrong with the doctors, yet. Thank you for the support and thoughts.

That's OK, @mainegirl1 - I've moved your post to her recovery thread.
