Hi, Tuesday morning at l0 am. I will be getting my LTKR. I feel calm, just a little anxious to get it over with this time. I am 74, in good health, and with confidence in my OS. I had a relatively good recovery from the RTKR 5 mos ago, just a few set-backs now & then, nothing serious. For instance:
This last week my husband & I decided to take a car trip down to the coast for a few days. The car trip a little over 5 hrs. each way, and then there walking everywhere, everyday my right knee was fine. Then on the last day I decided to go up & down the stairway 4 or 5 times for extra exercise. I was doing it normally, one foot after the other, no problem. That nite I woke up with pain around my knee and my leg was swollen. I had used the stairway each day once or twice with no problem but then I overdid it and paid for it. At home I have no stairs (only 2 steps), so my knee was not used to them. Luckily I had my ice paks with me. And have been iceing and elevating for last few days. My knee is now fine. Just goes to show that even after 5 months the knee can still be sore and swollen.
As I mentioned above I feel much more relaxed about the surgery this time, and I attribute it to having more knowledge. I am so grateful for having found this forum. Thanks to all of you, your posts are so very informative, inspiring, encouraging, and enjoyable. Also thanks to Jo & Jamie for keeping this together and for their super help.:thnk:
