I had the misfortune yesterday to trot out on our VERY old deck with just a pair of socks on my feet. I got a small wood splinter in the bottom of my foot on the outside near the heel. I didn't realize I had done that until it started hurting later in the afternoon. In order to find what was hurting on my foot, I had to kind of twist my foot (and my knee) up so I could see. This is the first time I had attempted radical twisting on the new knee and was happy to see I COULD make that movement! It was tight (probably because my leg hadn't moved that way in a while), but no pain. Over the course of the evening as I tried several times to remove the splinter, I spent quite some time with my leg (and knee) all twisted up. Paid for THAT later at night with some knee swelling and pain, but not too bad. At least I found that my new joint would move like that....just like a real knee!!! It was great! Oh, and as for the splinter, I was never able to get it out. Had to go have the doc do it today because I didn't want to dig and risk infection. Fortunately he got it very quickly and now I'm back to normal with a Bugs Bunny Band-Aid on my foot! Just wanted to post this to show anyone who might be wondering that it IS possible to have this movement from your new knee! I was practically in "Yoga" position to get to the bottom of my foot!
