Ok, so I know I need to exercise to keep muscle strength before surgery (of course....still don't know what surgery that is going to be yet...sorry, I promised myself I would NOT obsess about that until Thurs when I see the OS!). Today I was feeling pretty good, so I upped my workout a bit, ok more than a bit. Now I am totally paying for it. The worst part is, I know better. I know my limits and I pushed far beyond it today. Ice, elevation, rest, otc meds, etc is NOT helping, so I am going to have to take some prescription pain meds. I hate taking them...they make me feel all dopey, but if I don't I won't be sleeping tonight.

Tomorrow is a 'rest' day from working out for me, so I will take full advantage of that! Probably spend the day lounging around w/ the dogs, lots of pillows, the remote, ice packs, and pain meds. Woohoo, sounds like a fun day, huh?!

Sorry, just having a little pity party for myself tonight. My husband is absolutely wonderful and tries to understand how much pain I am in, but as we know, they just don't get it.

Thanks, again, for listening!

MJ5-

hang in there MJ - We have all been there - I gave up my family and went out this am and did the Poop pick up (we have 3 LARGE pups - we are talking cow patties!) prior to the freezing rain and snow that is now falling (and how beautiful it is!!!!). man am I paying for it. But you know what - its all good - it actually felt good to be outside. the hubby yelled long distance at me at lunch (he is up at work0 - but - its all good - a hot tub, some ice, pillows and elevation - me -too- hanging out with the puppers. Yeah it hurts - but .... i haven't damaged anything worse than before - just sore - it will eventually pass - some advil now and if the pain doesn't go away i will hit the drugs later if it becomes unbearable. its ok to vent - we are right there with you - my quad is burning - just icing as I type.

Enjoy what is left of the weekend - REST!!!! you have done enough!

Aww - hun. You let yourself go too far! Never mind, one day that will be your norm. Think on that!

I keep counting the days until my scope. With that how many hiking days I have left. I tell myself I must have rest days, then I don't end up doing it!! I am trying to get in as much as I can before I am out of the game again. Oh and about the obsessing thing, I just can not stop either!!!
My knee was hurting so much on the way down the trail today, pain meds don't seeem to do much for it. But, I do pray each time I go out that my knee hurts a lot and my right knee hurts more than my left so I know I made the right decision!!!

I can't wait to hear what you learn this week.

Thanks! I think, in a way, I was trying to see what I could do so when I go see the OS I could tell him how much I did....I know, not smart. And I know he would not be pleased w/ pushing it too much. Ended up taking pain meds, really didn't help, but they did make me tired, so at least I slept.

Lounging w/ the dogs WILL make me feel better, so that's what I will do today.

marianne--What kind of pups do you have? We have 2 beagles, or should I say 2 VERY spoiled beagles! I take full responsibility for the spoiled part! They are the best and always make me feel better.

Judy--I would be doing the same as you! I know that once I know which direction we are going and I have a date, I will be doing everything I can. I am not one to sit around.

Jo-Thanks! I will rest today, don't have much of a choice!

Hubby has to work today, so hopefully I can find some good movies on tv. Our cable bill is going to be HUGE this month from dvr movies, but oh well.....

The month before my hip replacement I did a lot as I wanted to get every bit out of that hip. After surgery my doc said, we did that just in time , your hip was so inflammed!!!
He did know what I was doing though.
I am supposed to be cleaning out my stuff in the garage this weekend, but I keep going for a long hike first. By the time I get back the pain meds are at the point of making me very sleepy and I never make it to the garage!!!
But, me and Buddy (my faithful pooch) have had a fun day.

We have 2 Giant malamutes (140# and 120# brother and sister from same litter - 1 1/2 half years old) and a little Alaskan Huskey (50# from the Reddinton Iditarod Family - he is small but mighty fast!). Some day I will get a pic posted of my brutes. They are REALLY spoiled too. the husky has full house rights and sleeps with my 9 year old ON her bed. infact last night at one point all three were camped out on the 3 couches in the living room with me! My husband thinks they should be outside ALL the time - NOPE - my Mals love the snow but also love cuddling on the couches (all covered with throws) and laying next to eachother on the floor.
They always seem to make me feel better when i am not at my best! my lil girl (9) thinks of them as her siblings - she is an only child! So spoiled here is an understatement!

Rest - that's my plan for the day!

Believe it or not, I actually rested today!

Judy--A hike sounds like MUCH more fun than cleaning out the garage! Hope you had fun cuddling w/ Buddy too!

marianne--Wow, they are big ones! Sound like a lot of fun, though! My two have full house rights too....they both sleep w/ us--could be a problem post-op, but from the sounds of it, I'll be on the first floor in the recliner, anyway. We call our couch "the girls" dog bed--they use it more than we do! Spoiled is an understatement here too!! But that's ok!

Ok, I need to eat some dinner, take more pain meds, and get back in the recliner. Yep, it's a happenin' Sunday night at our house!
