So sorry Ray to hear of your problems.

Jo will be here sometime today and she can tell you what to expect.
She knows her stuff, so be sure to follow her advise. She is the nurse here.

Hi, Ray, and welcome to BoneSmart. That must have been a nasty accident you had. Don't blame you for being anxious about the revision. You don't say what age you are which helps me get a handle on things.

That part of your message I have made bold is confusing me - you have been jogging with your new knee???? Is that really what you mean? And the knee is a little loose? Please explain for me.

And why are you off pain meds when you say you still have pain? Not sure I understand that either.

However, to explain - on rare occasions people do have to have spacers replaced for another size. This can be because either the surgeon made a bad choice at the beginning or perhaps the ligaments have stretched since the op. But there's nothing to be anxious about. It's a fairly straightforward procedure though the incision and rehab may be as it was before.

On the other hand, some knees do clunk a bit or a lot. Mines does from time to time but it's not significant.

Thank you I am 44 years old. The jogging was a dr term by no means did i jog lol. As far as pain pills i was on them from my ordinal accident date 12/07 and read bad things. I was scared to keep taking i fell bad pain every day. I go in 8/19 for revision my DR is top surgeon still working on many olympic athletes. He also using laser for alignment and has a great reputation. the clunking is very bad and he thinks this will help with pain also. I want to get walking good getting Married 10-31-2009. The only thing he said that if this don't work. He may have to redo total knee and remove rod in leg. Thanks any replies R@Y

Well, that all sounds good. And your surgeon sounds like a good chap as well. I would trust his opinion 100%. And all he's said sounds good to me. We'll just have to pray up a storm for you that the new spacer does the trick. Can't have you limping down that aisle with your new bride! Congrats on that, btw!

As for hearing bad things about pain killers, please don't get put off by that. It takes months to get dependent on them and even then, a planned reduction over a period of time gets you off them as well. But mostly it really doesn't happen if you're taking them because you are in pain. It's like the pain soaks up the medication and there's none left for you to get 'hooked' on!

But the important thing is that you have your pain under control because if you don't you'll hinder your recovery and PT. Why suffer when you don't have to?
