Hello everyone! Today marks my 6 month anniversary! I can't believe it's been a half a year already! Everything is going well and I am pretty much back to my regular life, Amen. Although I am doing my almost-every-day gym routine, I have not ventured back into hiking yet. Most of my favorite trails are pretty vertical and my confidence level is not quite there. Hopefully soon though! Still have a little muscle tightness but I hear that is common. I am going to try pilates to see if my ROM improves and am thinking I have to go to a studio that will work with me as opposed to the mass classes at the gym. I am excited about the prospect!

The summer has flown by this year... was able to get to the beach a few times which was nice. Actually saw a woman who had my exact scar and had to refrain from running after her to ask her story. I am always curious:-)

Well just wanted to say Hi and thanks for all the past support. Sorry I have not been on for a while. I told myself I wasn't going to be the "love 'em and leave 'em" type but l guess I am! I did miss you all but life just gets in the way sometimes. I am going to try and be a bit better about it - after all, we are all in this thing together!

Hi, When I saw your post, had to chime in as it is also my anniv. 1 year since RTHR. Really a milestone. You will continue to improve over these next 6 months and my guess is you will be hiking those trails before winter. The strength and confidence really come (at least for me) during the second half of the year. I am at the point now where I am truly "power walking" up and down hills and I have had a couple of challenging hikes. I tired out from lack of endurance, not due to my hip.

Enjoy the second half.

I sooooo love when you guys so far out makes me feel so much better to know your ok and gives me hope.Im glad your doing well...........And thanks for posting that, it means alot.........)Good Luck to you both.....)

Glad to hear you two hippies are doing great. A knee person here and I will be 5 months out tomorrow. I am able to do a lot, but it still swells and some pain. But I don't take any pain pills as it is not that bad. It does still get stiff but I think that is expected.

YAY LAURIE & HURTING!!!! CONGRATS.ladies!!!!! :wink::wink:

CALLING!!! How are you doing? Thinking about you!! Haven't had a chance to read any posts! :sct::sct::sct::sct:

Well done both of you - I am at 3 months now and it is so good to read positive experiences from those of you in front of me. I am sure the hiking will soon come Hurting - today I am going out to try and ride a real bike rather than the exercise one - so that will be another little milestone for me hopefully.

Keep up the good work

Steph - good luck with the bike and let us know how that goes!

BTW Melissa & Hop, when are the Jersey people meeting?? We should do it before we lose the good weather:-)

All good news, and encouraging!

I'm about half way between you two at 9 months or so. I am stronger and more confident than at 6 months and hope to continue on through my upcoming one year anniversary with continued improvement.

My hip is still a little bit stiff but not anything to complain about. I can stand or sit for much longer periods of time without adverse effects now than I could just 3 or 4 months ago.

I've been REALLY bad and gotten away from my exercise routine for a couple of months, yet I still improve, but the pounds are beginning to come back on - I WILL reverse that right away! Been traveling a lot, and its harder to eat right and stay on an exercise routine when you are working all day and traveling all night sometimes. Excuses or not, this boy is getting back in the gym and the pool.

Hurting you need to change your name!!! Glad things are going so well for you. I am over a year . My muscles got strong, then weak again do to other medical problems, but my hip itself is awesome. I had an x-ray last week and it looks as great as the day it was put in. No sign of any movement or wear. My doc said he hopes it will outlast me!!!

So you can look forward to continued improvement.

Mud good luck getting back to exercise. I have been a lifer in that dept, but I do know about work getting in the way. You can walk anywhere though. I used to run everywhere I went.

judy

Great news Judy! So comforting to know moving forward:-)

I know my name does not exactly fit anymore, thankfully! I am not sure if I have to set up a whole new profile or not (Do you know, Jo?)

Mud, Judy is right - you can walk anywhere (read between the lines - no excuses lol)
I don't actually love going to the gym..it's more a necessary evil. Once I get there it's ok, and when I get done it's great. When I don't go regularly, I get stiff and sore so it's not an option right now. The good thing is the gym is only 2 miles from my house so it's hard to make excuses since I don't travel for work anymore.
