Yesterday, in PT, my PT asked if he could have my home number so he could put his mom on the phone so I could talk her into getting the TKR that she needs! Then the PT assistant said--"yes--my dad needs it, talk to him too!"

I realized that I have become a bit of a TKR missionary. This last week alone, three people at work have started asking me questions about it. It turns out they all have varying levels of osteoarthritis and TKR is being discussed. They all see how much better I am getting around, walking straight and pain free when they had seen me hobbling for years.

Met a friend at work, younger than me, who had TKR on one knee in September (she had had multiple accidents to the knee). As people watched and laughed while we compared ROMs, scars, and PT stories, we both proclaimed "Wish I had had this done YEARS ago!"

How many of you have become TKR missionaries? *grins*

Well, I've lost count! Not only do I 'witness' to the people I see when doing the medicals at work, but many friends have had me talk to husbands, wives and etc., some members of other forums have pm'd me for themselves and others and yet more have got my msn link from someone and pinged me on msn to talk.

The other day, a long time (US) friend pinged me because she'd been scheduled for a colonoscopy and was somewhat anxious! I ended up ringing her!

I also have two friends locally who tend to ring me every so often for advice instead of going to their doctors - often as not, my advice ends " and go and see your doctor"!

I think it's really great to be able to settle people's minds about all this and help them to cope with it all. Well done you, Gretchen!

I was talking to a colleague of my husband's this week who had just seen her doctor about both her knees and is having to go for arthroscopies as the first option. I feel I'm not a very good advert for knee surgery with my history but I did point out to her that I'm the exception rather than the rule. Just realised I should have told her about this site then she'd realise that not everyone has problems and even if they do, there's great support out there. Will do so when I next see her. Linda x

We have this neat flyer - if you want, you can print it off and give it to your doctor's/surgeon's office or anyone else. Go spread the word, brothers and sisters!

If you click on the thumbnail, it will open in another window. You can then right click on it and save it to your computer. Then open a document and go to Insert > Picture > From File ... click on the image and then Insert and it will be loaded onto the document.

You can then drag the corners to make it fit your document so you can print it. It's best if you put the cursor on the corner so it's diagonal as then, when you drag the corner, the image will maintain the proportions.

Oh that's nice, Jo...I am always telling people about this site :)

It was produced as a result of conversation in here.
