I posted here in July 2017 with right TKR Now I'm having TKR on left knee on July 23.

Fantastic. Not long to go now and the chronic pain and disability will be replaced by a new phase in your life. We are so lucky that this surgery is available to liberate us from a life of suffering. Best wishes for the smoothest recovery xx

Welcome back @Adlen . Not long to go now!

Here's a sneak preview of the recovery reading for you:
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
elevate
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)
don't overwork.
3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these
5. At week 4 and after you should follow this
6. Access to these pages on the website

We try to keep the forum a positive and safe place for our members to talk about their questions or concerns and to report successes with their joint replacement surgery.

While members may create as many threads as they like in a majority of BoneSmart's forums, we ask that each member have only one recovery thread. This policy makes it easier to go back and review history before providing advice.

Hey, we’re “twins” with both getting LTKR on July 23.

We’ll be on the other side in a few more days. Hopefully you’ll post over there and we can talk about it all.

I’m finishing last minute stuff, slowly most of the time. My bag is ready for Tuesday surgery... Susie

Well Surgery was cancelled last week, rescheduled for today.

Has anyone gone home same day of surgery.??? They said Medicare is calling it a same day surgery. Hospital said get out next day after.

Many hospitals these days are making a TKR a same-day surgery. Personally, I don't like it, but many people do, so it's nice that those who like the policy can go home the same day. If you have no complications and are getting around, and wish to do so, going home the same day can be a good thing. On the other hand, if you have issues, they'll keep you a bit longer. In 2014, when I had my TKR, 3-5 days as an inpatient was the norm; last year when I had my revision, going home the day of surgery was the norm. I am hoping you're out of surgery and on your way to your new life with your new knee. See you on the other side!
