MUA TKR by robot

@Cocopug You will notice that I merged your newest post with your original recovery thread. For several reasons, we prefer that you only have one recovery thread:
  • That way, we have all your information in one place. This makes it easier to go back and review your history before providing advice.
  • If you keep starting new threads, you miss the posts and advice others have left for you in the old threads, and some information may be unnecessarily repeated
  • Having only one thread will act as a diary of your progress that you can look back on.
Please post any updates, questions or concerns about your recovery here. If you prefer a different thread title, just post what you want and we will get it changed for you.

If you need an urgent response to a question, just tag a member of staff.

Many members bookmark their thread in their computer browser, so they can find it when they log on.

Happy Friday Cocopug,
Knee replacement is major surgery and when you contemplate what you mentioned, equipment attached to your bone, in addition to all of the other, cutting, pulling and hammering that goes on, you're going to experience tenderness, pain and discomfort for awhile. Recovery can take a full year and even longer for some as I'm sure you recall from your other procedures. While healing you may experience sensations of tingling, pins and needles, itching, burning and even the feeling of a minor electrical shock. These are usually good signs that the nerves are spontaneously firing through the regeneration process.
I hope you have a nice weekend! :)
@Cocopug

I do remember from my last surgery but this was a slightly different method. I think I have forgotten the time line somewhat.
I really don’t know why I’m struggling with the recovery time.
I am unfortunately suffering with other various health issues and they are taking a toll on my general physical and mental health

I think I have forgotten the time line somewhat.
There is no timeline. Every TKR is different as you are experiencing. Just relax and don't worry about where you are in recovery. Time and patience is all that is required. You'll get there!

Hi Cocopug,
I am sorry you're struggling with other health issues as you're healing from your TKR.
Best wishes for peace of mind and all around improved health.
We're here for support whenever you need us. :console2:

I realise this but I have to get back to work and I suppose I have unrealistic expectations even though I should know from the previous TKR

Went to PT today. Bend is ok but getting my leg straight is an issue they tell me. I’ve had another shockingly bad week 2x to cardiologist and now on blood thinners.
I go for my 6 week check to the surgeon next Tuesday and I really hope I don’t have to undergo a MUA like I did with my right knee. I had such bad pain in my ankle and top of my foot that any walking was truly agonising and so didn’t do my flex exercises. I came home from PT and went to lie down as my knee was so sore.
Waiting to hear what the ultrasound of my heart yesterday says. I will let you know what the orthopaedic surgeon tells me next week.

Just took my little dog out for a short pee and poop walk on my own earlier. The first time in 6 weeks. My knee is a bit sore now as I could only take one crutch.

Another milestone was reached. Yay!

:dogwalk:Good for you, happy to hear it! Ice afterward if it hurts, hopefully it will help.
Happy weekend!
@Cocopug

I had my knee done with the robot help 4 weeks ago. I have found that ice has helped me to sleep at night. I have an ice machine, but not used it since the other night- but that is a month! I still use 2 wraps from the freezer, changing out halfway through the night. I am now only needing 1 Tylenol, every now and again. Ice or cold for the win!

Went for my 6 week check after my TKR and as I suspected I have to go back to hospital in 3-4 weeks for an MUA.
I knew I couldn’t get my leg to extend. I had to have it done with my right leg 2 years ago. I have had 6 surgeries on each leg over the years and have built up a lot of scar tissue. The MUA on my right leg worked like a charm.

Hi Cocopug,
Hopefully you will have the same good result after the MUA in 3-4 weeks that you had after your Right TKR
Please let us know once you have it scheduled and we will add the date / procedure to your signature.
All the best! @Cocopug

I got a date for my MUA it’s the 15 November and I can’t wait because I know I will make better progress when this is done. 10 weeks since my TKR and although the knee is still swollen and a bit warm I have no real pain in the knee. It just feels like the ligaments and soft tissue are pulling when I walk because the leg is constantly bent. I will let you know how it goes.

Wishing you the best! Thanks for the update, Cocopug.
