It has been 12 weeks since my last surgery, and I am thoroughly enjoying my new lease on life.
At my last visit to my OS, he was so pleased with my recupe that instead of having me return in a month's time, he didn't want to see me again for 3 (December).
At one time I had written on OldMarine's thread about a "Turn the Corner" moment, that I was looking forward to the day I could climb through a fence, climb on our 4-wheeler, and most important, get back into my truck and deliver my loads. I have now accomplished all.
I was a little apprehensive with the truck driving, as it takes a lot of pressure to work the clutch and brake pedals, and to keep the accelerator pushed down. Thought my legs would get sore or tired, but no problems whatsoever. Of course, I had to get up in the cab first, which takes serious knee bending to make the climb. But the daily 6 minutes of squats helped tremedously. Also, when climbing in and out of the cab, I make sure I have good hand holds so I don't slip and jar my new bionics.
I am so grateful for this site, as I learned many things which helped me tremendously with my recupes, and I hope others were able to learn from my experiences. I have never regretted having my surgeries as they have given me my life back. I can honestly say I have not felt this good for the past 15 years. I now stand straight instead of stooped, don't walk with a limp, and if I can't sleep, it is not because of continuous pain. I find it much easier to smile, and to be more tolerant instead of grouchy. Pain really does rob from, and inhibit, life.
And I must send a huge "Thank You" to Jamie and Mother Hen, Jo. Your sage advice and understanding made my recupe much easier, along with your open welcome to all of us as we join your forums.
I won't be checking in as often, although I shall be from time to time, as it is now time for me to move on with my newfound life and back to work, if it quits raining long enough (5 days without rain this month!!!).
Best Wishes to all, and may you get to enjoy the freedom from the prior misery we have endured.

Hey Glenys well thats the point of this surg right to get back out there just like your doing.it was great to meet ya and reading your posts from before..im glad you are doing so well.......Love the story that will help alot of new people ...congrats and we will miss ya but also understand.............

Glenys....what a fantastic post! It made me so happy and I am truly thankful you took the time to write it. It means so much to the folks who follow you in surgery to know that a real life awaits them. You've done a lot of good for many people today.

Of course this is a sad time for us. As much as we know the whole point of the forum is to help people get on with their lives through joint replacement surgery and recovery, I always am sad to think that some of our family of forum members won't be around as much anymore. But that's how it works.

Of course, you'll always be welcome here. Come back any time and say hello. We will always love hearing a story or two!

Best of luck to you and congratulations on your success.

 and :wahey: at the same time, Glenys. I'm so very happy that this forum achieved its objective every time one of you posts something like this.

Be happy and God bless you!

Thank you for all the encouragement you have given me!
You have made me smile/laugh/groan on several occasions.
Good luck to you.
Erika

Keep on hauling Glenys, keep on hauling.
You were always very pleasant here,I truly wish you a painfree future!

Hey Glenys, well done you. You sound so positive and happy now and I am so glad you managed to climb back up in that truck - I haven't yet been brave enough to get in my hubbies, but then it isn't my livelihood so it can wait until I feel the time is right.

Take it easy out there on the road and hope you continue enjoying things as much as you are. xx

Well am certainly glad i found your post cruising thru the older threads..was certainly encouraging for me. thanks

That just blows me away that you can drive the truck already! Wonderful! Drive Safe!
