THR THR Posterior - Slowly Healing

Yes, simple chores give us the greatest pleasure! Mine was cleaning my glass doors on my shower. In the beginning I couldn't get all the way to the bottom. I cried & asked my amazing DIL if she'd come & help & she did bathroom top to bottom for me.
Crazy stuff we stress over!

I just have to figure out now-how to not over do it
I think this is a struggle for all us! It's so hard to figure out that fine line between doing "enough" and doing too much! Most of us end up on the ODIC (overdid it club) bench at least once during the early months of recovery. Slow and steady!

I am in the ODIC!! I can’t seem to find a balance. I’m making myself rest all day tomorrow!! It will be storming here so I’m hoping that will help-lol. I know I am not listening to my new body.

I may join you - though not literally. :)

I am definitely building in two 'ice and elevation in bed' sessions today. I have some spooky podcasts to keep me company. Hope you feel better after a relaxation day.

I am just curious does anyone else have their lower buttock sagging? I’m hoping this will improve & I think it has, but i am just hoping my buttocks is not damaged

Hi msart,
The muscles around the hip and buttocks may be weak from reduced activity before and after surgery which can lead to the appearance you're questioning. Your gait likely changed as your hip deteriorated causing certain muscles to become weaker. It will likely improve with focused exercises and muscle strengthening.
Hope you have a good rest of the week!

Thank you. I am sorry about that-I struggle with posting on my thread for some reason.

I remember first view of my backside after the surgery. Horrible!
I'm in my 70's but have always been in good shape so was shocked at first glance even with scar area.
But happy to report it's all fine now & can barely see the scar.

You're welcome!
Thank you. I am sorry about that-I struggle with posting on my thread for some reaso
No worries, no apologies necessary. :) We're here to help if you need us.
I'll leave a link you can browse when you have time, it may be useful for you. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Have a great day and weekend!

My Dr approved me to get a massage yesterday!! And OMG-I feel so much better. I did not realize how badly my body was hurting. My muscles are so traumatized from this surgery. Highly suggest, if your surgeon will allow. Obviously she did not massage surgery area or that side of me.

@msart I’m very glad the massage helped you!

By the way, I merged your newest thread with your original recovery thread, as we prefer that members in recovery have only one thread.

This benefits you because all your information is in one place, easy to find, and maintains a nice journal for you.

This also benefits our staff, as your information is all in one place, and we often go back through your thread for previous details, so we know what you‘ve been through which helps us advise you better.

So, please keep all your posts in this thread. If you’d like a new title, let us know what you want, and we’ll change it for you.

Many members bookmark their thread in their computer browser, so they can find it when they log on.

Best wishes on your continuing recovery! We’re glad you’ve joined us here on Bonesmart! :flwrysmile:

@msart YES!!!! Great news.

After both my TKRs I booked with my massage therapist as soon as I was sure I could get up her stairs and onto the table.

She used the bolsters she uses with pregnant clients so I was sidelying with my surgical leg extended on it at perfect hip level, knee comfortably slightly flexed. It was heavenly!

Great news! I'm glad you took the time to have a massage and felt better afterward.
This recovery takes time, but I'm guessing you're making steady progress and feeling a bit stronger each week.
Please keep us posted and have a wonderful weekend!
@msart

Yep, you got it. :yay:
