Hip replacement surgery on July 27 anxiety level is 7 of 10 don't know why had both knees done 9 months ago with no problems at all they are pain free

Hi @Cobalt chrome and welcome to the hip side of the forum. Can you give us the date of your bi lateral TKR's- and which hip is having surgery on the 27th?
We will make you a signature with this information which helps anyone replying.

Gosh, I'm sorry you are stressing so much about the THR. I will tell you that my sister just had her THR after having her knees replaced in earlier years and is so happy with the differences between the 2 surgeries.
The biggest perk was not having to do formal PT after her THR. Mobility was better and she is over the moon with the results. She will be 7 weeks next Tuesday.

I will leave you our Hip information for you to peruse. Maybe reading some of it will help your anxiety.
Oh and re:anxiety. I had tons of it..what helped me was to practice gratitude whenever I began to worry. Examples are being grateful for my husband and his help, gratitude for my amazing surgical team and their skills... things like that. It helped to turn off the look or worries that would begin to repeat in my head.

Good luck, post here and drink in the support here, it will help.

Welcome to BoneSmart, @Cobalt chrome! And congratulations on getting a surgery date for your hip.

I've had both a hip and a knee replacement, and I found the recovery from the THR was MUCH easier than the TKR. If you've recovered that well from bi-lateral knee surgery -- pain free in nine months, is impressive! -- I think you will do just fine with the hip surgery. The best part, as Crickethip notes, is that you won't need PT to recover!

Being anxious before any surgery is normal. We've all been through it and are here to support you.
