Hi all,

I had my pre-op appts. yesterday with both my surgeon and the hospital. We spent 2 hours in the surgeon's office between him, his PA, and his nurse and got every conceivable question I had answered! (I had a lot!) I will have a ceramic ball with a highly cross-linked poly liner. I think I've seen where several of you have had that and seem to be very pleased with it. My date is Feb. 4. Then we spent 2 1/2 hours at the hospital and got even more questions answered. So between all those appointments plus getting my blood drawn twice, urine test, EKG, and chest xray, I think I'm ready! I still get scared thinking about it, especially the recovery, but all your posts really reassure me that I'm doing the right thing!

Also I'll try to answer the call for more pictures from the "newbies" in the next few days! Found your instructions on how to post pictures, Josephine, so I might be able to do it!

Karen

That's great, Karen. Glad we were able to help you out!

Karen,

Dispite what you may have heard about recovery issues, not to discount those as they are important, it sounds like you've already completed the most difficult part at least for me -- finally making a decision; to go ahead with the operation, finding the right doctor, what type of component is best for you, and getting all that preliminary stuff out of the way.

The surgery will pass literally in the bat of an eye, I don't remember a thing after they asked me my name until i woke up in the recovery room. When i did wake, the first thing I noticed was the pain was GONE. After that, well there is plenty of comments and personal stories about how recovery goes, you just take it day by day and a few weeks after, you'll have your life back!

Good luck!

All the best Karen,
Hope all goes well,
Regards,
Monica

Best wishes Karen

Regards,

Chris :)

Wow, and I thought I was thorough before my THR--you seem to have every base covered and then some, Karen! Being apprehensive is very normal--I was actually looking forward to getting this done & being pain-free and still had some butterflies the night before. It'll be over before you know it! And once you're home, let everything go except taking care of yourself--for some of us gals, that's the hardest part!

We'll look forward to hearing from you . . .
