He came through the surgery pretty good.It was supposed to take 2 & 1/2 hours, but it took 4 & 1/4 hrs! They said his knee was in the worst shape they had seen and they had to do more and also put a different knee Replacement in. Oh he feels great right now, but wait till that spinal wears off!!

Sandie,
Glad to hear all went well. WOW, 4 hours, thats a long time.
I know they have him fixed up right! Ya'll hang in there.
Will he be coming home or going to a rehab floor?
Best wishes to both of you.

So happy for you both, Sandie. I know it is a relief to be finished with the surgery. Now the healing begins. Be prepared for some good days and bad ones, but in not very long, the good way, way outnumber the bad.

Good job you 2. As for the spinal weraing off, they have plenty of good drugs to be there for that. 4 Hours worth of bad. guess he was ready. Give him our hellos and you get some rest.

That is so wonderful!! He will be so happy that he did this. Rememer that there will be the good and bad days, and it truly won't be long before the good outweigh the bad! I am 10 weeks out now, and I would do it again in a heart beat!!! Good luck, and get ready for the fight of your lives, but a GOOD fight to get your lives back!

Interesting thing about spinals that I learned last spring when I had my other knee scoped. As the spinal VERY SLOWLY wore off I found myself getting really grumpy. I asked the nurse about it--- I wasn't in pain, just grumpy. She said that was very common.

So---- if that happens--- know that he doesn't mean to be grumpy. If he is in pain they can help with that (and he *should* be grumpy if they don't!) but it just might be partly the meds wearing off too.

All the best to both of you!

Sandie... so happy for both of you. Since I've been exactly where you are (my husband also had a TKR), I know how relieved you must be. He'll need you more than ever and from your posts, I know you're up to the job. Take care...
Sandy
