The History of Bone Smart Forum

Jo, I just saw this thread on the history of BoneSmart. How awesome! Thank you for filling us in on the details of its origins!

Like many other comments here I am ever grateful for finding BoneSmart and to all who share their experience and wisdom so freely to us. I need to shout "THANK YOU!" to YOU, and to the administrators and moderators for being there for your support, encouragement, and knowledge both before and after my THR.

Jo, your vision to lead this incredibly supportive environment is truly a blessing to those of us lucky enough to find it.

Sincerely,
Dan

Josephine I really want my doctor to see Bone Smart. What info would I give to him to get him started on Bone Smart from his perspective? Thx.

There is a BONESMART POSTER in the Library that you can print out and hand to him. That coupled with all the knowledge you have gained here should spark his interest!

Well if that is so, then I would like to thank Richard Warner, it’s been a relief finding the site. The site is very informative and helps me realize that what I am going through is normal to face, as others too went through this.

Wow what a history, very informative, thanks to Josephine and all of our moderators and long time members who stick around to help us newbies. i hope to be one of those members someday.

I can't tell you how happy and blessed I am to have found this site. Only wish I had found it sooner!!! Thank you for all the wonderful information and encouragement. You are truly an answer to prayer and a blessing. Thank you!

Fascinating to learn that Bonesmart is a global community. What was truly amazing was to have the first person to respond to anything I wrote, be someone who has also experienced aggressive scar tissue issues and lives only an hour away from me. I was feeling very alone dealing with my limited ROM. Suddenly there's a whole global community to chat with. I'm very glad to be connected with all of you.

That IS amazing! In six years on here, I've only come across two members who were in my area. So you beat my odds!

Wow! What a neat history. This is a wonderful site and has so much to offer. :)

I am very thankful to have found BoneSmart!!

Kelsie, I see you are just recovering from your TKR. You've had a lot of experience with arthroscopy, too. I was a pioneer patient with arthroscopy that was done on my knee about 30 years ago.

At some point you will want to start your own thread. There is a page that shows you what it will look like if you search for Starting Your Own Thread. To actually start your thread and tell us about your experience and receive encouragements as you progress, at the top of the page of the knee replacement recovery forum on the far right there is a button that will give you a blank page to start your own story.

Best wishes on your recovery.

But NOT in here, hhilltop - this is the Announcements page!

I was scrubbing for arthroscopies in 1975! so beat you by almost a decade!

I think I said - at the top of the page of the knee replacement recovery forum on the far right there is a button that will give you a blank page to start your own story.

Josephine, where did you scrub for arthroscopic surgery in '75? My surgery was done in Michigan, outside of the major cities. It was still quite new around '82 when I had it done. It could have been earlier, I don't recall exactly. I started teaching computer classes in '83 and it was before then.

At the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow, Essex, UK. The surgeon was actually doing them about two years before I took charge of the unit in 1975. He was one of the first few orthopaedic surgeons that was specialising in knee surgery at that time. In 1978 he changed from the old standard hinged knee to using the forerunner of the modern knee replacement and in 1982 we started doing partial knee replacements. We were smokin' at that time!

Josephine it's lovely to put a face to your name now having seen your picture above! I SO wished I had found this forum BEFORE having the TKR. BUT HEY! At least I did find it & without being overly dramatic, this forum has pretty much saved my life :sos: There is so much more information for me to take on board & I'm learning something new everyday!
Heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE involved in they're part of running & making this forum work so well  Jaki x

Wow! I don't know why I didn't read this sooner. I don't know what I would have done without you!
Thank you so much for sticking with this project!

When I had to have a surgery for adhesions last april, I was really depressed!! My three biggest supporters were Jamie, who lives in Kansas, Jo who live sin the UK and Nancy who lives in La Paz, Mexico.
