Did you ever have to put one of those on a patient??

Hey, guys...had to chime in here! Diets don't work for me any more. Have tried to lose 30 lbs gained in the past 7 years!

The 4 days in the hospital with TKR, I was so sick from the painkillers that I couldn't eat from throwing up...after 4 weeks at home post-op, realized I'd lost 15 lbs just by having a decent breakfast, eating only 1/2 of whatever lunch and a very light dinner...sometimes only a piece of fruit. I've finally lost 20 lbs but need to lose another 10 or so. I can't handle the point counting or the calorie counting thing - have been on every diet we all know about including Jenny Craig and NutriSystem (ugh, those dehydrated boxed foods). Best thing for me is to learn to limit intake (fork to mouth motions), only eat when I'm hungry, and avoid night time eating.

Pattipoo, you look great...don't see your need to lose, but we all have a different view of ourselves and know where we want to be. I still have a ways to go myself but it's nice to get back into the 1/3 of my closet that's been collecting dust for 7 years. This time, I hope I can stay there.

Wish you much success...God bless.

TKR ,
I was a facilitator for the Weigh Down Workshop at my church. I lost 45lbs and kept it off for over one year. Then I blinked and it was back on. I'm on no specific diet. I am cutting back.
I am a victim of all three of the bad habits you mentioned. I love to feel full. I eat when it's time, and I am at my worst at night.
Add to those the fact that I also love to cook and it is a bad equation for weight loss. I'm hoping that with the new knee I will be able to work off more of the weight. I bought a pedometer today and I'm going to try and make the 12,000 step program it had in it. I have to do the pedometer because Skeet is doing it and I can't let her get that far ahead of me. (Just kidding).
Also, From my understanding, there has been controversy surrounding the Workshop founder. I don't recall exactly what it was. I found the program a very scriptural based rewarding program but like all healthy lifestyle changes, you have to keep at it.

TKR...You're sweet!..and correct about learning how to cut down on our intake.
I had already lost 35 pounds in the pics that I've posted. WW worked for me...it clicked in my brain. My biggest thing right now is losing my last pounds to get ready for my two weddings...ONE on a cruise ship to Cozumel....That's my "motivation" right now.

Congrats on your weight loss.....it's a great feeling.

Doug, I didn't know there was an issue with founder, Gwen Shamblin...only know about their eating philosophy. Wow, you were actually a facilitator. I think with any weight loss program, the key is consistency...at least sticking with "a program" of some kind 85-90% of the time for the rest of your life. No need to be 100% perfect...we're human! I love to cook, too, but I consider food a virtual enemy and not a friend because I think how those extra indulgences ended up in extra pounds that made me miserable for so much of my life. I was a fat teenager - round in every way :) So, distancing myself psychologically from the need to be too friendly with food has helped me feel more in control. As soon as I get too friendly with food (where I'm enjoying the intake part too much!), I'm in deep doo doo! Call me wierd...it's ok! Seems I have to psych myself into things sometimes...sort of like getting through this crucial and very painful TKR recovery time!

Pattipoo, whatever works for you...carry on and go for it! Don't let anything stop you! Great job losing the 35 lbs - what a tremendous accomplishment! I'm sure you'll be fabulous for both weddings! Be sure to send pix! Are you able to wear heels yet?

Bless you for your good wishes an'all, everyone. I am pleased to report that Ms Knee is behaving herself this morning to the point I was able to leave the crutches, go upstairs and have a wonderful shower!! This is obviously a case of the "grit in the shoe" effect and thus I have decided to contact my good friend the surgeon and ask for a repeat arthroscopy and wash out. It's been 3 months short of 2 years since the last one so I think it'll be worth doing.

As for the white coat, no Doug, I never had to do that although working with the orthopods, I can think of a few I would have liked to put in one!

WOW!! I haven't had time to check in since yesterday morning, now it's gonna take hours to catch up with all these threads, have to do that later though as I have a breakfast meeting soon. Hope I can stay awake for it, still had no bloody sleep!! Probably fall face first into my gritless breakfast!!

What I did just see though was that Josephine is suffering with us. I am so sorry, J. Hope you are feeling better now, please look after yourself, there's always a spare room here available for you here too, though I'm not such a good cook as Patti!!

Anyway, must run (ha..ha) and get myself ready, need my cuppa first though. Love and hugs to you Josephine, Sue xoxoxo

See, see, if you had some of my grits you would be running like a jet fighter!!

Josephine,
When you have your surgery do we need to sent Patti or Skeet over to help you out???
Never mind, the United Kingdom may not be ready for that one.

Hey Josephine, Sorry to hear about your knee! I'm praying for you and hoping you get that clean out soon.

And as for weight loss, I hit my 30 pounds lost point last week at WW. Everyone clapped for me.. it was cool. I've lost about 1 pound since then, but I'll take that. It took me almost a yaer to lose the 30 and it hasn't come back so that's good. My doctor says my cholesterol went back up so that makes me get super serious with my fruits and veggies and exercise. I have achieved 10,000 steps every day for the past 6 days at least. Makes all the difference. No pain meds in two days. I love this feeling better part!

Hi folks, its me again, I dont know how to start a new subject so I am latching on to this one as I am on the WW diet too.

But this is nothing to do with diets, have I found an amazing relief for sensitive scar and surrounding area, due to what my surgeon told me, the cutting of nerves.

Last night I had to force myself into a dressing up evening as we went out to dinner with friends, I drew on my tights with dread, only to be amazed that the sensitivity ceased immediately!!!!! I spent a pleasant evening free from it, but in bed at night without the tights, I am not that kinky, well not yet anyway, poor Bill!! even the touch of the bedclothes again drove me barmy.

This morning tights on again and sensitivity free, its wonderful!! Try it!! But be careful you men when you pinch your ladies tights, there could be misunderstandings afoot if you excuse the pun. Love you all hope all of you including Josephine are recovering from the various setbacks that seem to come and go XX
