I can't believe that my scope is just a few short days away! I will be glad to get it out of the way and find out what the next step is.....best case scenario is that my OS can clean things up (not that there is much of anything left to clean up!) and additional surgery can be put on hold for a while longer.....worst case scenario is that I'll need more surgery now (either PKR or TKR depending on how things look).

I have been able to get stuff around the house ready--clothes where I can tell my husband they are easily, extra cleaning done, grocery shopping will be done towad the end of the week, I have a stack of books waiting to be read, lap top is charged.......now if I can just convince him that inviting his mom for a visit on Saturday is NOT a good idea.....my surgery is Friday mornining, I am really not going to be in the mood for a visit the next day, but whatever.....I can always send them on 'errands' LOL!!!!!

Now if I can figure out how to finish a weeks worth of work in the three days I am working this week, I'll be doing good!

Good luck with your scope. I had one in Dec and was pleasantly surprised at the shape of my knee. My doc did microfracture surgery on my patella groove which required a lot of down time with a big knee brace keeping my knee straight while weight bearing. But so far so good, much better than before surgery where it hurt with each up or down step.

He also cleaned out a lot of scar tissue.

Sounds like you are going to have everything in place by Friday. Will be waiting to hear how the scope went. No matter what the OS finds, the goal is an outcome that makes you healthier and painfree.

Good luck Friday Mj5. I had a scope done on my left knee last February. Sorry to say things did not look to good for me and I am now set up for a tkp this Wednesday. After my scope I felt 100% better.:D That lasted just the day after the surgery. Then whatever they shot in my knee to help deaden the pain (wore off) Ouch!!!! So make sure to take care of yourself . My hubby doesn't have the best bedside manner and is already saying that he would like us to head out to our cabin this weekend. Sigh!!!:sct:I don't think so..... Our cabin is an A frame with many steps. I have learned from my last tkp not to expect alot from him and to take care of myself. So make sure you do the same.... Lots of ice and rest... Good Luck and my prayers are with you. :flwr:

Yes!! Good luck MJ5!!! Think positive!!! You will be fine!!! ((:0). Waiting is the worst!!!

Good Luck Mj , cant wait to hear what the Dr has to say let us know when you can......take care of yourself and DO AS YOU ARE TOLD........lol...........Blessings.....................)

MJ,
The wait is all most over. It is scary but it is also a goos thing to know what
is going on with the knee. I will pray that you come through this with flying
colors. And that you have a nice vist with your Mother-in-law this weekend.

Awww, thanks everyone! Can't believe the surgery is TOMORROW!!! I have waited so long to be able to say that! The waiting is the hardest right now....doing as I'm told afterwards...yea, that's hard for me too, but I will do my very best.

I just found out that my husband had some extra vacation days that he needed to use up, so instead of only being home for the weekend, he'll be home thru Thursday of next week. That is great news! It will help a lot, especially w/ our dogs and letting them in and out...otherwise they would probably have to go in their crates while he was at work, at least initially.

I'll check in and let everyone know how it went.

Thanks again!

This time tomorrow you'll be DONE!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!! ((:0)

Thanks everyone!!! Believe it or not, I have been following doctor's orders ever since I came home yesterday! Ok, it's only been 2 days and so far I still need the pain meds and don't feel like doing anything but lounging around, so it's not hard....yet! My husband is absolutely fantastic. He always is, but even more so now....taking care of everything....making sure I have enough pillows, cold drinks, and pain meds; making sure I have an ice pack, cleaning, taking care of the dogs.....

Now, I am not totally sure because I was still pretty out of it when I talked to the doctor (love when they do that....like we are supposed to remember???), but I *think* he said I am looking at a TKR. He cleaned up what he could and of course wants to see how I feel after I heal from this surgery. I have my post-op on Friday, but that is with his PA, I won't see him until the next follow up.

I can't wait to take the bandage off tomorrow and take a shower! Always feel better after a shower!

Hey MJ glad you are home.............its ok to lounge around..........Take you medicine and relax take your time and do your excercises...........Tell hubby he is a sweetheart. ....Im truly happy your doing well and being well taken care of please keep us posted..............)

I'm glad your hubby is such a sweetheart. Sorry you are looking at a TKR though. I love how we are supposed to remember that talk after surgery too. When I had my scope , I did not remember anything , but woke up with a giant knee /leg brace on from my ankle up to my thigh almost. I had asked my doc before surgery what I would have on when I woke up , he said nothing.
So i called the next day to have him explain!!!!
Rest, take pain meds, take that shower.

Kim--I have been doing my exercises, ice and pain meds....well, now I am....I didn't mean to skip any, but my sleeping pattern is all messed up, so my pain med schedule got a little messed up. It's back under control now....and I'm setting the alarm on my cell phone to make sure that doesn't happen again!

Judy--yea, I would have called too! That's a big difference...nothing to a big brace like that!

Ahhhh, took the bandage off and took a shower. I feel better already! LOL!!! Not sure if I will ever get my OS's initials off my knee, however...it faded, but still there very clearly! Oh well, that's ok, it adds some 'art' to my knee! LOL!

I'm jealous...My OS didn't put his initials on my knee...oh yeah, I had both done...LOL:hehe: no need for initials to remind him of which knee to do.

Keep up with your exercises and ice and rest. Sorry you are looking at having TKR. It will feel so much better when it's all done.

I loved it when I was able to have my first shower. Felt like a new woman! Also glad you have such a great husband!

My sister's surgeon marks his sites with a smiley! :-)

mj, glad you're done and dusted. Round two is ...... when?

my OS used to 'mark the spot' w/ an X, but now he 'autographs'...

I have no idea when round 2 is.....I'll have to go through all the super-fun insurance (workers comp) approvals again.....my insurance co will approve it w/ no problem, but the workers comp (who is only responsible for 25%) will be a nightmare, again.

Plus, my OS wants to see if the 'clean up' he did makes any difference and it's too soon to tell that.

Josephine--you might know the answer to this....every other 'scope' I have had, there were three small incisions, pretty much in a triangular-ish area. This time (it was exploratory, mostly) there are the two lower smaller incisions, but up higher, medially, there are two, what kind of look like 'punctures' and a bit of bruising. Obviously...something happened there! LOL!!! Obviously, I will ask on Friday when I for my follow up appt, but I was just curious if maybe you (or anyone else) knew what they might be from.

Judy--That's what it looks like! LOL!
