I MADE IT 6.5 miles on the bike trail today!!! I'm almost 13 weeks out, and my husband, my 3 boys, and I all went bike riding on the katy trail! Wow, what an experience!! I couldn't keep the grin off of my face, and I couldn't stop thinking that it was all worth it!!! I've never been able to ride the trails before, and I can't wait to go back! I'm gonna go and ice now, but it really does feel good!

Happy riding,
Hess

Hess,
That is wonderful. I did my first and second hike this weekend at 12 weeks and can relate totally.
I also took my bike out yesterday after reading your post. My town is extremely hilly (base of the mountains) so quite a challenge, but fun anyway.

So I'm kinda sore today, but the biking was DEFINATELY worth it!!!!! My husband wanted to venture out again today, but I'm not thinking it is such a good idea (maybe a short ride around the subdivision, though--it felt SOOO good to be out!)

Bye for now,
Hess

Just do a little more each time you go out. Don't woory about speed. Keep up the RPM's and keep the form good. Your knees and he muscles surrounding them willthank you everyday.

I just came in from doing 15 miles. I will try to get at least 80 miles a week in; sometimes, 100.

Keep up the great work!

Wow Hess that is totally amazing! This is the kind of thing that really gives me some encouragment! I can not wait until I am able to do this sort of thing again with my Boy's! In fact they asked me today if I was ready to go fishing again and told them almost guy's. I am just counting the day's untill I will be able to have fun with the family again!! Congradulations Hess on the HUGE accomplishment I am sooooo happy for you!!

Thanks for sharing my excitement! I'm getting a little carried away now, though. I want to go buy a rack that will hold all 5 bikes! I want some of those bike shorts, and I want to get my husband a bike just like mine, but men's!!

I'm a little concerned about my other leg, though. I could never ride a bike before because my legs were so bad, but it was the left leg that was the real problem. Well, now, I think the right leg might be talking a little to me! I know that leg has just a matter of time, and I would like to hold out until I get the left leg completely rehabbed, but I'm not sure I'll make it that long!

Thanks again,
Hess

You know Hess I think I have a simaler problem with my other knee. Right before I had my surgery it started bothering me and I know without a doubt I have not heard the last of the pain. But if need be I will do what ever I must so that I can enjoy things like riding a bike again! In fact I think my whole family would benifit greatly from riding a bike and I will have to mention this to the Wife and see what she thinks...
