First off I wanted to thank everyone that replied to my post I appreciate your support. Just a quick update I was supposed to have the TKA on the tenth but it has been postponed for a couple of weeks. My OS has decided to consult his teacher and mentor on my case. I didnt get to talk to him yet but I will first thing tommorrow morning and see whats going on. He left me a message saying that my case was just too complex to jump right into and he needed to be certain on what to do. I trust him completely and if he thinks he needs the opinion then he needs it. It kinda worries me because I wonder what is so complex about it. Maybe its my age but I dont know! He wanted me to see this doctor in person but it cant be done since I live down in Texas and hes in Boston. Which brings me to a question. I know this is a long shot but has anyone heard of or had there surgery done by a Dr. James Bono in Boston Mass. Hes my docs mentor and the guy he wants to consult with. If anyone has heard of him was it good things. Anyways thanks again for the support and I will keep everyone up to date. Have a good one bye for now!

Would it be possible to do a telephone call or teleconference with the doctor in Boston. These days, that's pretty easy to do via computer. You might ask. They can usually provide all your tests, xrays, and MRIs via email or on an overnighted disk. Good luck to you. This must be very frustrating for you!!!

I'd be inclined to say that if I trusted the surgeon and he trusts this other chap who trained him, then I'd trust him! This kind of conference is usually more of a brainstorming thing to make sure he has covered all eventualities and options. Sounds like your surgeon is being very careful and sensible.

I have been trying to respond to you since you posted your original query about Dr. James Bono but there was something wrong with my forum access.

Dr. Bono did a TKR on both my knees this summer, the first in May and the second in July. He is a nationally well-known knee and hip OS who practices and teaches out of New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, one of the top orthopedic facilities in the country. He is a great doctor with a wonderful, patient personality. You can read all about him at www.drbono.com If your OS is consulting with Dr. Bono, you can rest assured he is getting good advice and insight.

Both my knee replacements are perfectly aligned and both my recoveries have been phenomenal.

Good luck!

Thanks marennorge my surgery is done and he did consult with dr. Bono. Bono was his teacher. My surgery went great and im good thanks for the info.

Pleased to hear it's all done and dusted, Brent. How did it go?
