Hi Big Dog Mom,
I have a little dog, I am already feeling bad for him as I will once again be out of comission!!
I am 50 and have been an obsessive runner all my adult life. I had cervical spine surgery last summer and was given the OK to run in January. It is almost killing me to take time off now, but the prospect of never running. I have an apt with my Dr. this morning, I was telling my PT last week that I am going to negotiate some miles.
He just does not want me to need a revision in the future.
I have been very lucky in the past to always have a Dr. that is OK and understands the need to run.
Ok now I am ramblling
thanks

I am 57 y/o male R/THR 3 weeks ago, doing pretty good so far. I had minimally invasive, posterior approach, using metal on metal. I knew 3 months before that I was having this so I began a very rigorous physical training routine. (kind of like Rocky in that first movie) I am so happy I did. If I can give any advise it would be get in the best shape possible before the surgery. I know it's allot of work but the rewards post-op are worth it. Also, ask your surgeon if they use computer aided software to get your leg length correct.

AMEN to the surgeon using the computer to measure for leg length....mine did not and now I am left with one leg one inch longer than the other one and this is causing me multiple problems with my back and knees, even with the built-up shoe.
My OS said, "They looked the same length to me"....be sure they are!!
