I have read a lot of useful information on this site. I had a total left hip replacement on 5/28/08. Your questions and comments on this site have helped me understand the healing process and have encouraged me when I got impatient with my progress. I used a walker for 4 weeks and have since used a cane. Many times I walk around the house and discover that I left the cane behind. I get stronger everyday. I have experienced a tenderness in the left hip area from time to time. The funny thing is, I touch the area and it feels sore. Ten minutes later I touch it and it is no longer sore. Has anyone else experienced this sensation? My incision was glued so I didn't have to deal with staples or stitches.

Joyce,

I had a right hip replacement June 6. I do have soreness around the incision area. Not necessarily on the hip incision , but around it to the sides, down a little. I thought it had calmed down about a week ago, but it is back the last few days. I have had pt work on it. It got better, now they have stoppped and it seems to be acting up again!!
I think that is what you are describing!!!

Yes, your symptons sound similar. The mystery is how it comes and goes. One minute it is very tender to the touch and a few minutes later it is gone. Also, Sometimes when I sit it feels perfectly natural. Other times it feels like I'm sitting on something hard. All and all things are going well.

I agree it is crazy. When i went for my 6 week apt I was trying to show my doc where it hurt, of course it was fine. A few days later it was not and i ended up making another apt !!!! It for a few weeks was really bad going up and down stairs.
I am just accepting all these aches and pains as part of healing.

Hi Joyce M

I am 4 weeks post op LTHR my inscision was also glued. Mine is no longer sore but it feels strange to touch the area almost like when you have dental treatment and your face is numb and then when you start to get sensation back it feels a bit tingly and strange that is how mine feels.

Good luck with your healing Tracey
