OK, so how long did you all keep these on for after you had been discharged from hospital - I feel a divorce coming on here if my hubbie has to try and put them on me too many times :D.

They are so hard to get on, but I don't really find them uncomfortable once they are in the right place. They don't look very flattering with my cropped tracksuit bottoms either, lol.....

Haha Steph Are you talking about those fashionable stocking that go to your knee...lol I did wear mine till 6 weeks like he said then Dr said get them off. Some people take them off right away. What did your Dr tell you?

Steph--
I'm on the knee side but my OS said 5 weeks. I agree about the fashion statement-LOL.

Hi Steph,

Six weeks for me, but mine were long, came almost to the top of my thighs and I have very long legs. My husband hated puting them on but that was all he had to do for me, so I kept telling him he was getting off lightly :)

My sister didn't have to wear any after her hip replacements. When I pointed out all the other patients in her hospital who had them she was horrified, she thought their legs were wrapped in bandages! She also laughed until she cried when I told her that I wore mine (3 months after surgery) on the 7.5 hour flight to visit her.

Best wear them for as long as your surgeon says you should :) I found some articles which cast doubt on the usefulness of those stockings, but decided to be an obedient patient.

I was told to wear mine for 6 weeks but they were taken off 2 days before the 6 weeks and I decided they weren't going on again. I bought a thing, a bit like a plastic bag, which makes it easier for them to be put on. It cost £14 but was worth it. In hospital the nurses used the bag that the TEDS came in. She put it over the end of my foot then slid the stocking on, then removed the bag through the hole in the bottom of the stocking.

The secret to putting them on is to put a small plastic bag over your foot and then thread them on over the sock which allows them to slide....and then pull the sock out through the hole in the toe (this method only works with ones with holes in the toe....

Thanks for that - will give the plastic bag method a go and I promise I will keep them on :thmb:
