Hello everyone, things are moving right along. Hope everyone had a safe 4th of July. Had my eval for therapy today. Therapist was very pleased with my progress at 4 weeks out. I can raise my arm to 110 degrees he added a few more exercises to do at home. I had a driver to take me today but they ended up getting sick so I drove myself. hat went well. He said that was fine so long as I don't use my right arm for steering. take care, be safe.

Wonderful news! Sounds like that passive motion machine has put you in a good place! That feeling of being able to drive yourself is so invigorating, isn't it? It's kind of like getting your license when you were a teenager - I think it's the independence it represents. Have a great weekend!

@SaraK thank you hope you are doing well. I go for my 6 week checkup on wednesday, am hoping the doctor is pleased with the results. The shoulder itself is feeling great, the main problem I'm having is my bicep muscles, they hurt like crazy, guess that will take awhile to heal.Take care, stay safe all.

I guess we both have big checkups on Wed. I have my 18 week check then - can't believe it's been 4 months tomorrow! You're so far ahead of where I was at 6 weeks. Different surgeries, of course, but I had difficulty lifting my arm to my face at that point! Good luck and let me know how it goes.

will do. I know my therapist is amazed at the things I can do. still really weak but that will take awhile. just glad the shoulder is working as well as it is and with very little pain in the joint. when I go to do things I have to remind myself I had a replacement. LOL take care hope all goes well

had my 6 week check up Dr is pleased I can raise my arm to 135 degrees, what she is concerned about is where she did my bicep repair, there is a lump and is very tender, she feels it should settle down and I still should not lift more than 1 pound 2 at max. slow and steady I guess They will be coming to get the CPM chair on friday, will be glad to see it gone. go back and see her in 6 weeks.take care, stay safe.

I'm always amazed at how frequently biceps pain is part of the recovery from a shoulder replacement. No one seems to talk about that at the surgeon's office, but it sure seems common here. I had it too, even before my biceps muscle was torn post-op by an exuberant mammogram technologist. The good news is that I think for most people, it does resolve itself.

If some repair work was done there, it will be important to abide by whatever restrictions your surgeon has set. It's a temporary inconvenience that will give your body the best opportunity to heal properly. Your shoulder range of motion sounds great!

I'm glad your 6 week check went well! I'm really impressed by how you're doing. I was lucky I didn't develop "Popeye arm" after the bicep release. I do remember being conscious of where I thought the released muscle was sitting and it being a bit tender or at least odd to touch in the first few weeks but I don't even notice it now.

I had to reschedule my appt due to a family scare with COVID (all ok now) so I won't see him until Monday.

I'm now at 154 degrees but still having a lot of pain in my biceps so I'm backing off on my exercises and not doing much around the house to see if that helps.I touched my back pocket for the first time at therapy, boy did that feel weird, Don't see the Doc again till next month. so not much else to tell.I'm still icing and heating, Take care and stay safe.

been awhile so I thought I would give you all an update, had lots of test done to find out why I am having so much pain in the bicep and I seem to have ruptured my bicep tendon. Doctor said she can't repair it because it was so bad when she did the shoulder replacement and a biceps tenodesis. Thus the popeye arm. Range of motion is awesome, strength is not so good because of pain. Will continue with therapy and go back and see her in 3 months. Take care, stay safe.

So sorry you're having such problems with the bicep. They didn't make any effort to save my torn bicep but just finished the release. As I've increased working out, I've noticed a little more of a Popeye arm but not too bad. I hope youre able to work out the pain and move forward.
