After surgery 3/3 had very swollen leg for 3 wks. Swelling subsided as I progressed and pretty much disapeared by week 4-5. Now in week 7 and leg is again swollen. Had doppler ultrasound yesterday- no clot. Activity level increased-10000 steps / wk. Also started hitting soft golf shots. Leg sore but tolerable. Will it always be swollen?

Welcome Vandyke
I had my right hip replaced on June 6th last year. Talk about swelling, both legs swelled down to my toes. I could hardly recognize them. My weight jumped up 24 pounds. It went away at about 3 weeks, but mine did not return. I'm sure I had some swelling, but nothing really visable to me .
Try icing and laying down in bed. That is what worked for me. I was told no sitting on my recliner, just go to bed for a weekend .
After that when my operated leg was still a little swollen my doc told me I was not putting enough weight on it.
That is all I know
Good Luck, post often and welcome

Hi, Vandy! Welcome to the forum!

I suspect the new swelling is related to your increased activity. I agree with Judy, cut back a little and lie down with your leg elevated. Some ice wouldn't hurt either along with an anti-inflammant taken for a few days on a timed schedule. Things should get better. You're stilll healing!!
