While you guys in the UK and US are suffering from the cold, we in Australia are suffering from the heat. It was 40 degrees C in Melbourne yesterday (which translates to around 110 F) with similar weather promised for the next few days.

My knee swelled up far more than usual which made exercising painful and difficult. Can the swelling be attributed to the heat? Any suggestions other than ice packing it more frequently?

Yep heat and humidity can be bothersome..You can ice your knee 20 minutes an hour---anything more than that (i.e. longer) is counterproductive.
