Hi every one, It is now 1 month after TNR and I feel I am doing ok so far. But when I read what people say here I feel I may be behind what is normal recovery time. I did have a slip 1 week after surgury which caused bruising in my thigh but no problem to knee and also I got cellulitus on my operate leg on calf and foot which is now under control and healing. My calf and thigh still have swelling but not to a level of any discomfort. Im thinking this may be normal Im not sure. Also I havent seen my OS yet and I dont for 3 more days and when my family dr took out staples he didnt take out stichedes. They are a blue color and i wonder do they disolve or were they over looked when i had staples out. I do exercises at home and have 110 rom and full extension. Today was able to ride recublant bile with full rotation. So stiches and swelling are my concerns. Thank you all

No way are you behind. You are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't read some of the post and start thinking you are behind

You will heal in your own way. Everyone has a diff. recovery way
and time.

I am 5 months out and still sometimes have some disconfort. But you are doing great. 110 and 1 month now that is great!

Riding the bike with full rotation Great.

I did not have stitches and staples. and my OS took out my staples. You could always call about the stiches. But I think
they would have taken them out by now if they weren't the kind
that disolve.

Good luck and keep up the good work

I think I would all I dont think they dissolve.maybe its a new one i dont know.but on that kind of surgery maybe !!! but yeah i would call...I agree dont look at others and compare I did that and ugh.......Everyone different but you are what 4 weeks your doing more then i did......lol..I think your doing terrific... !!!!!PS they did have one person on here remember that he was 6 weeks or she and they finally removed them???

Joe,
You are doing great! Like Pat said, everybody heals at different speeds and you are doing fantastic....Showoff!!

Relax! You will heal at your own pace.

I only had one stitch visible when the staples came out. Mine was watched over and it dissolved on its own when I was about 6 or 7 weeks post-op. I think you should ask you doctor about your stitches and if they need to be removed or if they will take care of themselves.

Joe..you are doing great, That swelling goes on for awhile. When you hit week six..you will find you will feel a LOT better Seems like that is the magic week.

Not sure what kind of stitches you OS used. Mine were disolveable. I had one at the end of my incision that stuck out. Drove me nuts. I was concerned because it seemed like it was not allowing the incision to heal. Made an appt with OS...he goes...oh yeah...jest a stitich. Got a pair of small forceps and quickly pulled it out...no pain. You will see yours this week, so just be patient.

Non-absorbable sutures are very rarely used on skin nowadays. So they should dissolve over time. But they do take a lot longer in the skin. If you rub at them with the towel after you've showered, the knots will come away when they are ready. However, first time I've heard of stitches and staples being used!
