THR SurreyGirls's 2nd THR Journey

Well I can’t drive yet so have to work from home. I managed using a computer for 3 hours today in two shifts but it got sore after that.

When you use the computer, are you at a desk or are you using a laptop, which in theory you could use anywhere even lying in bed which might make it more comfortable ?

I have practised both, using the laptop in bed and on the kitchen table. Both work as long as I support my back. I will have to time zoom meetings carefully :)

News from home, hubby tested positive for covid. He thinks he may have had it for a week. Mild symptoms so far!

Massaging my scar has made a massive difference in a week to the lumps and bumps and hardness underneath. I use by thumb and use circular motions with a plain emollient that I already had.
Glad to hear you will see Occ health now.

Oh no! Covid does seem to be doing the rounds again. We've had invites for annual vaccines but there are no appointments available! :oyvey:

I love the idea of having a zoom meeting while lying in bed !

Not good news about hubby, hopefully you won't end up catching it too as it might knock you back a bit with your recovery.

@Clairebella That's really good news that massaging is helping especially with the hardness which I find quite annoying. I tried contacting my surgeon to see if he was happy for me to start using a lotion and massaging my scar but he was on holiday so I'll just wait until I see him next week.

@SurreyGirl Zoom is wonderful! You can change your background and no one can tell which room you are in. It is easy to do.
Sorry to hear about your hubby- wear masks, sleep separate if possible, stay out of common space at the same time. My brother-in-law had it my second week and my sister put protocols in place and no one else caught it thankfully. I started my elderberry gummies as an immunity boost.

That reminds me to get flu and covid vaccines! I need to ask the doctor about that this afternoon in my followup, if it's too close to get vaccinated.

I normally religiously get the flu shot as I had pneumonia following the flu two years in a row a few years back. Not sure if I'll get covid too, my parents are very politicized about it and it might not be worth the extra drama while I'm in their house. Maybe after I leave.

I was right. My mom freaked. Won't even talk to me or come into my room after I put this in my list of questions.

I saw Occ health via Teams on Thursday. The interview went well
And the Doctor agreed are a phased return and has also suggested that I have a disabled parking access for at least the next three months. She went into quite a bit of detail about how long I could sit for, how far I can walk etc. she has suggested working from home for the rest of October on a phased return basis.

Unfortunately I did go down with a bug that knocked me for 6 so have been binge watching series 2 of Brigerton in bed these past few days. Weather nice today so will get up and sit i the garden and walk around a bit. Scar looking more normal now for this stage of the recovery.

Still icing religiously and doing gentle physio. Hope 2 days of being in bed has not set me back.

Hubby tested positive for Covid but so far I have been negative.

Sorry to hear you’ve not been well. Rest up these setback will happen get well soon. hope hubby gets over Covid well x

Good to see you are doing well and still staying chilled:ice:

I hope your hubby's Covid case is mild and that it stays away from you!:nah:
I hope your weekend is sweet, my friend.

Had my flu shot Tuesday. Only shot I get, had Covid and two Covid shots last one almost 2 years ago.
It's a personal decision and not one that another person should make for you or make you feel guilty if you don't care to get one.
There was a lady at CVS waiting to get booster asking me if I was getting Covid booster and I told her I'm only here for flu shot and she went on a 10 minute speech about how I should get one. I have no idea why perfect strangers want to give this advice??? You do you and I'll do me!
Hope your husband is feeling better Surrey!

Some good news in there @SurreyGirl
Hope you and Hubby feel better soon. Enjoy the good weather - it's raining cats and dogs here!

Well I thought I had better take another test and, yup, positive . But I am feeling a bit better today and am out of bed and getting sone fresh air.

Oh dear that's a shame but it is hard to avoid it when you are living with someone who's already come down with it. It sounds like you are on the road to recovery, hopefully the worse is over now.

Glad to hear that your work will be remote in October. Yay for the parking permit as well!
Sorry that you are under the weather now. I think Brigerton sounds like the best prescription. Your body is hard at work on two fronts and rest will help. Sitting outside with a cup of coffee or tea also sounds nice!
