Surgery on Thurs Head Cold

Hi Mike:

Sorry to hear about your cold. Did your hospital or surgeon say anything about what to do if you develop a cold? I don't know what they would do since you have no fever or lung congestion.
Hopefully your surgery will proceed as planned. I wish you all the best tomorrow and will be thinking of you. Keep me posted.
Best Regards, Ross

I hope you have called your surgeon's office. Sorry about the cold, always a fear of mine before surgery or used to be before a marathon!!!

Generally anaesthetists do not like anaesthetising a patient with a head cold as it can affect the chest and breathing. I think this may require a short delay until you have recovered. Best ring the surgeon's office and check.

Totally understand - I am having a scope on my hip later this pm and have been like a total germ a phobe since mid Novemeber when I got really sick. Hope all is going well for you today! They will only do what they think is best!

Best wishes!
Marianne

Harley. I came down with a bad cold the week prior to my surgery and it ended up postponing my surgery for four weeks. I called my OS a couple of days prior to surgery and he told me had I showed up at the hospital he would have sent me home and so it was just as well I went ahead and called. Plus you have to think about the other people you will come in contact with and expose to your germs should you proceed, for me this was as big a concern as worry for myself being put under the anesthesia with a cold. Good luck whatever you end up doing. This is a pickle. Rowdy
