Has anyone out there had hip replacement after a dvt? I had my right hip replaced last Nov. I developed a dvt in my left leg two months after surgery. I've been on blood thinners since then. I have also been on a waiting list for the left replacement. I have an opportunity to have the surgery on Thursday this week. However, the surgeon seems concerned about the clot. He had me do an ultrasound today. What I could see on the screen looks like the clot is still there. I'm afraid he will cancel the surgery.

Anyone been there? Is it possible to have a successful surgery? The drs. said I should be on blood thinners about 3 months this time to be sure.

I just know I'm in so much pain with this left hip, I want the surgery done ASAP.

Hi Pharman. So sorry about all you have been thru. I cant help you, wouldnt want to say something wrong but I sure wish you the best. Im sure whatever they decide is in your best interest. Good Luck. I hope your pain goes away soon. You will surely be in my prayers!!!!!!

It needs looking into, I would say, pharman. It's been 5 months since the DVT which is border line but once you've had a DVT it's always a concern thereafter. Perhaps he should refer you to a vascular surgeon for an opnion.
