Did you wear support stockings and for how long post op?? We call them TED's. Sometimes it feels as though they apply too much pressure on the leg.
Cheers, Ross

Sorry Ross-- no help from me. I didn't have them. But it is Monday now--- call your doc and ask!

My dischard instructions said 2 to 3 weeks during the day (i.e. whenever leg was lower than heart). I ditched them after 2 weeks because of the discomfort

By the way you need to keep pulling them up because if the bunch they can cause bruising.

I had 2 pairs and one actually got a snag which caused it to be too tight in one particular area. Luckily it was close to the end so I just quit using that one.

I had so much swelling that the stocking felt like it could cut right through me. I tossed them and never used them again. That probably wasn't the correct thing, though.

You're swelling is going to reduce drastically in the coming days.

My doc never had me in them. By the sounds of it, I'm grateful.

I pull mine off as soon as i got home. Like Patti, probably the wrong thing to do.

Took them off after 3 days, irritated me,I believe there are mixed opinions about them in the medical profession so didnt feel too guilty about dumping them. Cheers klinger.

Thanks for the feedback. I took them off this morning and I feel better already. They were bunching and very tight. Also some bruising.
Cheers, Ross

I wore mine at home for about a week and they got a hole in them that allowed my leg to pop through. That didn't seem like a very good thing so I called the doctor's office to see about a prescription for more. They told me not to worry about wearing them if I was up and moving around regularly. They are MUCH more important for those patients who are primarily in bed or chairs, maybe the elderly....those who don't move around all day like most of us do. But, Ross....the final answer should probably come from your particular doctor.

Aren't our Ross and our Klinger 2 cheery guys! Love ya both!

Re: Support Stockings/ Recumbent bike ???

Does anyone have any information on using a Recumbent Bicycle for recovery (PKR)?
I have a cheance to get one but I wanted to check and make sure I don't o damage.

Recumbent bike is fine...I use one on occasion..Beats having a bike seat implant!!
You might have to get off of the seat to move it forward to work your ROM but you can also use that time to stretch a bit.

Gat...Don't you HATE it when that happens?!! I can help him pull them off....that's all I know to do!

Well there went my heart rate again...just sayin'

I wore my support stockings religiously for 2-3 weeks then the doctor said it was time to discontinue them. Aside from them being warm and a little itchy, I had no issues.

I had major issues....mine were about 6 inches TOO short...they hit me right in my booboo!!
Don't you guys hate it when that happens?????

Mine were a bit too long... we sound like the three bears....

That makes me, what, the baby bear?? or the short mama?
