I am one of the few that have had a PIP joint replacement done. It was done on January 21, 2020. My joint was completely gone & I had acute bone demineralization. I had a trauma to that joint as a preteen which overtime a ganglion cyst formed. Now that I am in my late 60's I decided to find a solution to the pain & crippling the cyst was causing to my PIP joint. I had no pain from the surgery itself. The uncomfortableness did not start until the strengthening exercises were begun by OT. I feel I should have searched for a hand surgeon much sooner. But I do not regret having it done at all. My surgeon was fantastic!
