Hi Everyone, I have been busy doing things that I know will not be done for some time like pulling weeds from the flower bed, picking nice red New Jersey tomatoes..great on white bread with mayo .. I have lots of tomatoes out in the garden..I washed the bedroom rug, changed the shower curtain, dusted, did my hardwood floors, getting ready to wash theses greys right out of my hair.

O and the most of it all was getting stressed out this morning. I got a phone called from someone from my doctors office and asked about my insurance. The insurance we have now we started in March and right now they said they werent going to pay for the operation because it is a pre existing condition. I said to the women that I got a letter from the insurance saying that everything is going to be paid 100% and she said that I need to fax that letter over to her. 5 mintues later she called back and said was there time from the new insurance from the old one that wasnt covered. I said not that I think. So then she said that she needed to check that out and I just might have to wait 180 days. I started my tears after we hung up but not for long as 5 mintues later she called back and said that I am 100% cover and good luck on Thursday... Why do they put you through things?

My next problem is my husband.. He said he wants the best for me and after my last replacement with all my problems that I had blood clot, nerve damaged to my left foot, and the months of therapies that I gone too, my hubby said since he leaves for work at 8 am and doesnt get home until 6;30 (he has his own business and workes with our other son) and our son is going away for a week this Sunday that I would be home all day by myself. He said he knows me if I want something that I would get up and get it myself and what if something would happen. So I told him to call the case person that is handling my case and he did. She said its up to me to come home or go to rehb.center.

So after thinking about all last night I will go to a rehb.center not one that I checked out but one that I hear that works you out very hard everyday. So sometime today I am getting a phone call from the hospital to see what time to come in tomorrow I am having that stemt put in also the fluid drawn out from my knee. Will let you all know what time, other then all what I been through today I wasnt stress out before but now I am.

Peggy,
Sorry you had to go through all that. It is ok now though. It does seem like your hubby wants you to go to the rehab center, so it is probably a good idea then.
Tomorrow do you come home after your procedures? Good luck with them. Stress is wrotten. Do what you can to calm down. Me, I would go for a long hike!!!

Hey Peggy I know when it rains it pours. Well shake of things thing. its done..As far as rehab if your not going to be happy, then tell hubby you really want to come home. Make arrangements find someone. You need to be happy. I know you are nervous because of that last experience but it will be ok this time. You say stress that's something you don't need and if being home will help that, then that is the best thing for you ask him to find away for you to be home.....Look from what you have been thru it should be all about you, your recovery. I know it puts people out but this is so so important. Well whatever you all choose I guess it is what it is. I would just like to see you happy,...Where will you be happy thats the only question. only one....I SO WISH YOU THE BEST,, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOU CAN HOW YOU ARE. My prayers are with you....Good Luck.....When you go into surgery think happy thoughts...yea think about me !!!lol:evil::hehe:

You'll be ok. You remember how it was. Hey I think the rehab is the best way to go. Well for me anyway. I wish I had did the ten days that they offered. I was home sick for my family and kids and just wanted to get out of there. I think rehab will give you a good start on the recov. PT is hard. As much as we don't like it and it does hurt some days we need it.

Today is my 1 year post op. I still have to get caught up on things that I let go over the past year. The garage keeps calling my name to come clean it out:D

Hi Peggy, Remember that you will be in the hands of Philly's finest knee surgeon! You will do super well. I was in a similar situation after my hip replacement. The week before surgery, my husband found out he really, really needed to be in the office the next week. Dr Rothman put me in rehab the first week, and it did take our stress level down a notch. I missed being at home, but I learned so much in rehab. that I didn't regret going there. My very best wishes for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.

I think you have made a very wise decision to do the rehab. It provides a sheltered environment and LOTS of focused physical therapy. That will give you a jump start on recovery and you'll be so much stronger when you DO go home. You're in good hands. Hubby won't have to worry either. And now that it's all arranged, time to de-stress, girl!!! You're almost there....

I know you so want to be home thats why I said you should. But yes do whats best for you. I know it would be hard to go to rehab. And I know you want to be home ..I hope you can work it out for your sake...You'll be fine whatever you choose. We want you smiling and happy !!!!!!!

Peggy

It is a hard decision to make, but given your last experience and medical problems, it may be safer for you to go to a Rehab center and it will be a relieve off your husbands mind.

It you are going to be in the hospital 5 days and then in rehab for
a few days, that would be a good head start for you. When you are in rehab if you feel you are on the way to recovery and can then do OK at home, you might want to plan on home care nurse to come twice a week and PT to come at least 3 days or more a week.

Of course you need to check with your insurance company to be sure you have coverage for home nurse care and home PT.

We do not have the option here to say we want to go to PT. You have to qualify under the medicare quide lines to go to PT. Does not matter your age or if you are on a private ins. plan. My insurance would have paid for rehab but I did not qualify. But I did have home home care and home PT.

Good luck and I know you will do great

Peggy.....Looks like Rehab's the way to go in your case! You will be around nurses 24/7....make friends and you will be taken VERY well cared for!!! :)..

I am pack, just got the phone call to be in the hospital at 6 am and we have a hour drive, nothing to eat or drink so they must be putting me out for that stemt,
Judy, they are keeping me over night that a good thing for me and my nerves.
I want to thank everyone for giving me the support and wishes, to anyone that is going in after me my prayers are with you and after 21/2 years of living with a knee replacement that was put in crooked I will soon be walking Tall!!! See you all soon

Best of luck, Peggy! Can't wait to hear from you once you're on the "other side!". ;)

Peggy,
Golly Gee when it rains it pours. Peggy I understand your Hubby's fear about leaving you alone. (No older Grandchildren around that could stay?) How do you feel about going to rehab?? It does sound like you will get some super PT that may help you fly through this knee replacement. But all and all Peggy how do you feel about all of this??

I will be praying for you Peggy, See you real soon.
I know you will be the one standing stright and tall
