strep throat after thr?

i think i may have strep. i'm going to the regular doctor tomorrow to get a culture. i had my surgery in february. is this kind of infection a problem for the hip? anyone have any trouble or am i being too much of a worry wart?

Farmgirl, I don't think that should be a problem with your knee, but I'll defer to Jo when she comes on board in a few hours....it's that time difference thing between the USA and Great Britain, you know. But be sure and let your doc know about the TKR anyway....GP's ALWAYS want to know those health history type things.

How long ago was your hip done? That makes a big difference. 1 yr out I wouldn't worry too much. 1 month out, well, I'd want my PenVK. If it were me, I'd want my strept treated (and it's pretty easy to treat) if I had strept. Your GP should be able to sort through that pretty easy.

i did have strep -- they put me on antibiotics and said it shouldn't be a problem with the hip since i went pretty early on -- they did call my surgeon just in case and he thought it'd be fine. thanks for everything.
