Standard Shoulder Replacement Stewie. Ouch

Hi everyone. I’m 7 days post op for a left TSR. I’m a little over a year from a left THR and 6 months from a right THR.

I’ve had three previous shoulder surgeries on the left shoulder. The pain from this surgery has been the worst out of all the previous ones. The chest muscle pain is tolerable. Meds have taken care of nerve pain. The worst pain seems to be at night where the new shoulder is. Has anyone had arm sensitivity after a TSR? My whole arm seems sensitive to the touch the past day or two.

@Stewie1972 Welcome to BoneSmart and the other side of surgery! What was the exact date of you TSR? I'll put the information in your signature for you.

At only 7 days out it is normal to have this sensitivity. That shoulder has had some major trauma. Are you icing the area regularly? Ice for 45-60 minutes per session several times per day. Alway put a cloth between the ice source and your skin.

In most cases this all eases with time. Many of our shoulder members are delighted with the results of their surgery.

My surgery was on Feb 20. I have my follow up with my Dr on Thursday and next week I can start PT. I have a polar ice machine so I keep it on the majority of the time.

I’ve been waiting to get my shoulder replaced for 5 years. My initial plan was to have the shoulder replaced and retire at 50. I ended up being a year short since I had my first hip replacement on Dec 16 2021. Then a right shoulder scope on April 10 2022. Then my right hip started going out and had that replaced on July 26.
