Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if there are any specific causes for stem rotation (i.e. actions/movements/surgical mistakes). It would be interesting to know what leads to such a major problem. Has any research been done on this?

Enjoy it all,
Nick

Boy, Nick....I'm thinking this will be a question for Josephine when she gets back on the board full time. Are you worried this has happened to you?

Hi Jamie,
No, not at-all worried. My new hip seems fine. I'm just totally curious about the whole field of THR now that I've 'entered' it. I work in the field of therapy, and am fascinated by the workings of the human body. So if anyone has any experience/knowledge about stem rotation that they'd care to share, I'd be most grateful.
Enjoy it all
Nick

Whew!!! You had me a bit worried there!!!

Posting for this quicklet only and then I'm back to 'off sick' status!

In any other language "stem rotation" means loosening.
There's only one reason for this. Loosening means the standard of technique when inserting the prosthesis was substandard. All the other 'reasons' are just situations that cause that bad work to be revealed.

Thanks Josephine,
Hope all went well for you and you have a great recovery. Enjoy your 'off sick' status, I'm sure we'll all be keeping you busy before long.
all the best
Nick
