What a busy week. I had my staples out on Monday. Although it's easier now, I have so much bruising that it's that's painful. Tuesday I had physio and I have been given 4 extra excercises, which quite frankly, added to the rest ,are gruelling. I have to sit on my bed after doing them just so the pain will go away after. It takes a good 40 minutes to do all these excercise three times a day. Ughhhhh. As I work for an After School Club I had Ofsted visit me on Wednesday, to see if my knee stopped me from doing my job, which of course it didn't. I have to have a suitable person interview which takes 2 hrs. and I have to learn all the Ofsted standards and policies. All 65 pages of them!!!! What with the excercises, and the reading ( once I can obatin a copy), will keep me busy for a while.

Having the staples taken out seemed to be the first step towards recovery for me. I was afraid when I bent the leg, one of them would go shooting across the room.
Yep, the therapy is a bear on the knee. But good for you in the long run.
I have no idea what a Ofsted is but good luck with it or them.

I'm happy to hear you've passed the staple milestone. It's a biggie. I agree with Doug that the exercises, while a pain (literally) to do, will help you. Just be sure to elevate and ice afterwards!!! That will help with the swelling when helps lessen the pain!

Ofsted are the big bosses of the childcare world and you can't breath without their say so.

Do you know, I havn't had to use ice for about 3 days now. I find when I do the excercises that i just sit with my leg on a pillow for a while and the pain slowly goes, and the swelling isn't too bad.

Wow, you are definitely one of our poster kids!!! This is GREAT news!!! Hope it keeps going this way for you.

From what i've heard, metal detectors may still ring in your honor even without staples. Congrats!

You know with so many people getting new joints these days, I betcha the airlines will evenually have to have a separate line for those with metal parts inside.

I had coffee with yet another friend who had her knees done and she was saying how she has set off a detectors in a store.

Star, just a word about ice. I didn't think I really needed it either as my knee wasn't all that swollen, but after listening to everyone on here rave about ice, ice, ice, I started icing more and the little swelling went down even more. So, you might want to consider icing even if you don't think you "need" it. Just sayin'

Hi Skeet! I was just thinking about you! Was it you who spoke of the body pillow. Didit help you get comfy in bed. I can sleep, but rolling in bed doesn't work. No staples required. (Just staying on topic)

Jenn, Skeet told me about the body pillow, it really worked for me and still does, it's my new best friend in bed. My man pillow, or as hubby and I call it, Manillow.

Star and Skichick, congratulations on the removal of your staples, hope your wound heals as quickly as mine did.

Sue, I'm so tempted to buy one of those pillows, but I'm sure that would drive my husband batty. It does sound comfortable though. Maybe next time I'm in the store that has them I'll take a look. If I could find one on sale it would be even better....sometimes pillows go on sale here.

NP, what does the pillow do for you, how does it help? How is it different tahn just a regular pillow between your legs? Think it'll help with 2 knees and not just the one? (Boy if we weren't talking about knees.......................!)

I use my pillow on the outside edge of the bed as it was my right leg and I sleep on my left side usually and on the left side of the bed. I drape my leg all along the pillow so my foot doesn't hang off the end. It only cost me $10 in Wallymart, I also bought a cover for it for another $10, but it was the best thing I've bought in a long time.

Jenn I guess it depends how you sleep. On your back as you have two knees done? You get full support of the entire leg, it also works well for elevation, I fold it in half and put 2 more pillows under.

I described the other way in my post above.

I'm a side sleeper and that is part of the problem. I can sleep on my side for a while but eventually HELLO. so'I'll rool which is not really painful, but uncomfortable. And now I will sleep on my back because i have gotten used to it, but it has its time limit to. I miss my bed and my husband and he misses me. Just even for sleeping, not the other.

Funny thing, when I mentioned getting one to my husband he said he would steal it. If I get him one of his own, there will be no room in the bed for people.

Don't know what it is about our guys....they DON'T like to sleep alone!!! My husband always seems sad when I have to come out on the couch or get up in the night.
