I don't have daily pain, just being at home, but can't be on my feet longer than half hour-hour at a time. Several issues going on, but haven't had any x-rays for 4 years for my spine, except the one I had in November to check my lungs for my bilateral scope surgery (I have asthma). That's when my scoliosis was confirmed. Chiro spotted that. Anyway, I've never seen a spine specialist before. What will likely happen that first appointment, and what info about myself should I tell him?

    Thanks

My first spinal appointment was mainly checking for range of motion and specific "sore" areas. Once the exam was done I went directly for an MRI. X-rays can't give your surgeon the details on nerves involved in your back issues.

Your surgeon will want a full medical history. If you have this written down prior to the appointment it's much easier to have a conversation.

Please let us know how your appointment goes.

I just called, and his office lady is trying to get hold of 5 yo x-rays, which seems odd. My only guess is for some kind of baseline. So I should hold firm for an MRI maybe.

And not sure what a full medical history would entail.

I do have all my diagnoses on paper from the docs though, except the scoliosis. That one should be obvious in an exam. I saw it on the x-ray, plain as day.
