First of all...let me say thanks to everyone who has responded to my last questions. Now the big one....who is good and well respected in Southern California/San Diego?

I have no idea if this forum discourages such referrals...if so, please feel free to contact me directly. If you can post your experiences directly on this forum please do so. I just don't have the energy to interview a couple of hundred doctors...and I doubt that they are interested in being interviewed. Just let me know who the good guys are...

Thanks..

Mike

Quite the opposite, Mike. Dissemination of information is what this forum is all about.

Here is a (broken link removed: https://bonesmart.org/clinic_lookup.phpthat can give you some clinics in the San Diego area. You can use this reference tool in addition to any personal references you receive on the forum.

Once you have some names, Google them or read about their background on the clinic web sites. You want someone who does LOTS of knee replacements....and usually ONLY knees.

When you get 3-5 surgeons that sound promising, use the information at this link to interview them personally...either on the phone or by making office visits. I know this sounds like a lot of work, but this is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Your ability to live life to its fullest rests on finding a skilled surgeon that is a good fit for your problem...one that makes you feel so comfortable, that you can place yourself in his capable hands.

Hi mmmexico,
I am in a suburb of los angeles. I don't know if this is too far for you to go. My doc does hips and knees. He replaced my hip and has done surgery on one of my knees.

He is the absolute best, awesome personality, will spend all the time in the world with you, verycompassionate, understands pain, excellent surgeon. He is also a revision specialist. He really is perfect in my book. He has had knee surgery himself.
When i had the home pt after the hip, the pt I had was awesome and told me if she ever had problems she would to to Dr. Dietrick. She said he is young, but an awesome surgeon.
He is in Pasadena at Congress Medical, Dr. Todd Dietrick, 626-795-8051

My surgeon was Kevin Ehrhart of the Santa Monica Orthopedic Group. When I was looking for an orthopedist, I was told to see either him or Dr. Mandelbaum. Although there are other surgeons in the group, I was told to only see those two.

I'm quite happy with Dr. Ehrhart and his work.
