This will change, there is so much input and output here to last me hours of reading.

I appologize sincerely to the people who have messaged me asking me a question, i will respond to all of them ASAP.

Also, a quick note to Josephine - You do such a amazing job, when you do not have to...Your a very caring person and dedicated to this field after many years of dedication to helping people deal with issues at the Hospital. I speak for everyone here when i say your the true inspiration of this website.

Now, as i have seen many times, there is one thing that troubles me when i read others Posts/Replies. This of course is the huge factor of "Well...My Doctor Said.."

I am by no means trying to say Do not listen to your doctor/surgeon, i actually recommend listening to everything they have to say and trying to follow it like a guideline, but this is all i am saying...a GUILDLINE!!!

These are the facts, recovering from a major surgery is you, you are in control of how your going to recover. There is not one mind, not one body in this known world that is the same as the next. So keep this in mind when i explain my simple idea.

Doctors and Surgeons are amazing people, they do amazing things every second of the day. But no matter how amazing a doctor or surgeon can be, they can never know 100% what is Truely best for you.

I will give you an example in my case,

4 years ago, if i listened to my Surgeon at the time after the 3 surgeries i had on my hip due to the staph infection that tore apart my left leg I would have never touched a basketball again, i would have never walked on my own free will again, and i definently would never have been able to run again.

I was told that i would be lucky to walk without a cane, that i would likely need a wheelchair, and that i could never in my life play competitive sports.

Well, as most of you know.....I did not take this as a serious matter, the biggest battle was emotional, but i conquered it. I played Basketball for Team sask, i remained playing Volleyball, as well as badminton...With a hip that could not flex more than 45 degree's.

Now, it has been 16 weeks since my hip replacement, my new surgeon whom did a amazing job and i owe my life to him.....Still implied restrictions in which if i took under consideration i would never be close to the level i am at.

Now, remember....I am going to be getting 2 more Hip replacements Minimum in my lifetime on top of this one. (Which is the main thing a young person has to take into GREAT consideration). Yet i still put it this way,

If you get a replacement....a Shot at new beginnings and strength, yet you don't do much more than you did Before your hip replacement...What good has the replacement been?

Young, Old, Older......Age is not a matter in the fact of Life, we live it...to LIVE it. Even the greatest minds in the world have used the old Cliche of Bending the rules.

To conclude my point, if i have not lost everyone already, i am trying to give a different outlook on the surgery you have, or will have in the future. Even though i am young, i have known many people who have become weak due to the fact of a Wrong call in the doctors department, (Which i have a story about myself...But this is for another day :D).

Your body, and your mind will tell you when you have had enough, a surgeons job is to give you the Textbook description of a Basic recovery.

And heh.....Maybe that would work, if we all were Robots :D.

This is to everyone, not only the people who are having hip replacements, it is not only a outlook on ones body...it is a outlook on life. Where would some of the richest people in the world be if they were told what to do their whole life?...Where would Lance Armstrong be if he quit cycling all together when he found out he had cancer?

I only post this to let your minds Ponder at the ultimate question, am i right...Or am i wrong? There is no correct answer, it is all up to you!

In my book you are right. I have always pushed my body in athletics. I love doing it.

I remember after my first child was born, I had an infection which was pretty bad. I was finally sent home and told to do absolutely nothing , except take care of the baby and come back in one week. OK. When I was given the OK to run again a few weeks later the doc said, ...Don't expect to get out there and be able to run 5 miles.
My response....I already did...
Then proceeded to train and run an ultramarathon.

My spine surgeon told me he was a very unusual spine surgeon. He does not want to help with the pain so you can live a limited comfortable life style. He wants patients to be able to go out and do whatever they want to do and be pain free. So he OK's me to run, hike , backpack whatever!!!
My hip surgeon when asking me to promise I would not run again said surely with the way your back is DR. C would not let you run.. Well, yes he does.

That will be my big issue when my hip is truly healed , to run or not to run.

What an inspirational post, YoungGuy! I am amazed by your wisdom and good common sense. And thank you for your kind words but I just do what comes naturally!
