Coming up for eight weeks post op.and doing pretty well, mild infection but taking medication.I am getting a sharp stinging pain on the inside of my right (operated knee). It is more obvious when resting especially at night when it wakes me up and then becomes very uncomfortable.Getting up and moving eases it after the stiffness has worn off.Physio says it could be a strained ligament which may even have happened during the op when everything was being pulled about. Nothing serious apparently but Oooh!! it hurts.Anybody else had this sort of problem. I'm new to this site and it's great to read you all.Thanks.

It's quite possible you have strained a ligament there, Brit-Knee. You need to ice and elevate. Maybe even use some heat in between as well. Also make sure you are taking your pain pills regularly and enough. People often seem to think they should be cutting down as soon as possible but they could well be needed for anything up to 4-6 months!

Thanks Josephine, yes I have cut well down on painkillers as I am doing so well without most of the time so maybe I have been too hasty so I'll take your good advice and see how it goes. I'll let you know,Cheers.

Hey Brit, I remember the sleepless nights so well, luckily there were a few of us in the same boat and we often found each other to post with at all hours. I would often find myself downstairs in the middle of the night lying on the sofa with my leg elevated on the back of the seat and iced. I also found doing some stretching exercises helped too.

One night I remember being on the stationary bike about 1.35am and finally being able to go all the way round instead of just back and forth. Wow was I gob smacked!! I cried with buckets that night and slept well after too.

Anyway, hope you are sleeping now. Sue

I had both knees done almost 8 weeks ago. Right knee was worse and my OS said he had to do some tendon repair. I've had a sharp pain just below my knee cap; only hurts when my knee is at rest. Feels fine when I'm standing/walking. OS said tendonitis and it will eventually go away. Heat makes it feel much better so I sit with a heat pad alot. I always ice both knees just before bed. I can honestly say it is beginning to improve. All that soft tissue inside our knees took a beating along with the bones. Some things take longer to heal than others. It will get better!
