On Tuesday I had my six-week checkup with my OS. He is thrilled with my knee, and so am I! I have full ROM (130 degrees), and I have no pain at all. My main problem is that I have been 'kicking out' my left leg, and been doing it for a while before the surgery. It started probably a few months before my surgery. A year ago I had my left knee scoped (trying to avoid a TKR), and it was never right since then. If you watch me walk towards you, you see from the knee down my leg goes out. My PT is working very hard with me to help me strengthen my hip. She believes because I was leaning so hard on my right side on the cane, that that caused the left hip to project out. So, hopefully it will straighten out over time. I also had to get lifts put on my right shoes, because my OS and I discovered that my left leg is now 3/4 inch longer than my right! That didn't help the problem, but it wasn't the cause since I was walking that way before surgery. So, my knee is doing great. I am cleared to go back to work on Sept. 2nd. Thanks to all at Bonesmart for your support!

Paula--
Great news! All your hard work is paying off. I'm sure you'll perfect your gait with time and be able to enjoy a more natural stride.

Good luck going back to work--I go back next week. It's going to be hard getting up early again. LOL Hope you continue to improve!

Blessings,
Irene

hey Paula congratulations Im so happy its all going well for you......Still go easy its not healed yet but you sure are doing a great job...keep us posted...yeah!!!!!!..:)

Great news, Paula! At least you have a good PT to help you! Just take it easy and don't overdo it! (:)0)

Well done! That's excellent. And the thing with your gait will eventually be sorted out, I'm sure.

Wonderful news. The gait will work out eventually. Walking in the pool and exercising there also helped mine. Take it easy as you go back to work. It will be tiring at first. Be easy on yourself and don't forget to rest, ice and elevate when needed.

Blessings,

Wonderful news, Paula! Keep at it with the gait retraining.....sounds like you have an excellent PT to help you along.
