Well It's now 6 days to my RTHR. The anxiety is at an all time high. Can't sleep at all. Having trouble eating, etc.... I'm sure you have all gone through much of the same. I do find reading through the different posts on this website somewhat reassuring. I know I'll come out the other side and be much better off for it but this waiting game is torture. I just keep reminding myself that 3 months from now it will be a memory and I should be back to the gym and playing golf. Hope I make it to next Wednesday!!
Thanks for all the support!! You are all wonderful people.

actually i was quite calm before the operation.I found the hardest part was deciding when to do it.Im 3 months past the lthr and i barely remeber having it done.Dont worry your be better then ever and wonder why you did not do it sooner

Hi Nuttygolfer,
You are going to do great, this coming from someone who is 5 weeks away from RTHR. I played golf for the first time in 3 years last July. I used a golf car for the first time ever it was great. But after the 18 holes I was in agony. S o I am loking forward to being able to walk the 18 holes agian. Best of luck for your op,keep us posted.

The week will fly by. I just hope your body is now tired enough so you can sleep.Mabe contact your primary care doc and get something as you will probably want it after you come home as well
New hips are the best.

Oh those pre-op collywobbles! Aren't they the pits!

Every single one of us had simular anxiety. Its only natural I suppose, but still not a plesant part of the process. Wish i could give you some pearls of wisdom to make them go away.

It is a bit like a kid at christmas time though. Anxious for it to arrive, seeminly like its taking forever. And then all of a sudden it will be over before you know it.

Good luck!

And then you're left with the most WONDERFUL present afterwards!!

Thanks to all who have replied. It does help to hear your encouragement. Less than 48 hours to go and my nerves are totally shot!

Thanks for the reply. The count down is on and I just want to get thru this and be on the other side. Best of luck to you as well!!

Hi Nutty, Not much longer for you now and you will be on your way back to the golf course. I won't have my hip replaced until next month but I've already had my knees replaced so kinda sorta know what to expect. You will do fine and you'll soon be wondering why you put the surgery off as long as you did. Take care!

Hello i wish you all the best with your surgery we are all behind you ....hang in there it will be done before you know it............post anytime............) my prayers are with you

I am post op RTHR 7 weeks now and I was very anxious the week before. I will tell you that I expected lots of pain and had told myself I was just going to have to deal with it but much to my surprise, it was not as painful as I expected. My doctor was excellent at pain control and when they stood me up for the first time the day after my surgery, I was so relieved that i did not ever feel severe pain. I was able to walk a little bit. You will be pretty helpless for a while but if you have someone around to help you, you will do fine. I am still recuperating and waiting to go back to work, but I am looking forward to my new life without pain.

It's almost time....try and keep busy and the time will go by faster....keep focused on the good days AFTER surgery!
